help a noob

Post by mummi »

I am about to get my Turnigy9x and am wondering which people recommend for multicopters open9x or er9x? I am completely new to this and not sure which suits me more. My multicopter is equipped with a multiwii flight controller and I think I will probably stick with multiwii. I would like to know what people are using with their multiwii (firmware and hardware mods).

Also any general tips would be helpful :)

Heli functions are NOT used for multicopters. open9x or er9x will both be fine, it's mostly a question of personal preference.

The heli features only add the cyclic mixing. The rest (expo, curves etc) is part of the standard version.

Both are equaly good for what you want to use it for. There is actually very little difference between the GUIs since both open9x and Er9x have a common code history.
I prefer open9x since there is a Swedish translation. Er9x has been around longer and probably has a larger following.

For multicopters there is not much difference. If you fly gliders, go for the flight fases of open9x!

Just use the 4 channel plane template.
Create a curve for your throttle and assign that to you throttle mix.
Add an extra mix for channel 5 with full/max and assign a switch for your mode change.

No heli. Heli settings are only there for adding swashplate mixing and quadcopters do not have a swashplate. Mixing is done in the flight controller board.

That mean that you can take some template and customise it.
You only tell control board what you want and where fly and board calculate motors and gyros and accel to do this am I right?

For multicopters, all you have to do is create a new model (turns up as standard 4-channel airplane) and you're done. Nothing more is needed. All the work is done by the multicopter's computer. The only thing you might have to adjust is limits/subtrim/reverse, and set dual rates and/or expo as desired.

Lost in mean and not mean nevermind.
In companion i found that some combinations of modes are not possible because of small memory in t9x.
So for multicopter will not need heli and tamplates and will got memory for voice telemetry and other ...right?
