ARUni is only detected as a 'Bossa program port'. Nothing on the LCD.
Dear All,
I got an ARUni board that 'almost' doesn't work. Previous owner tried to install it into his radio, and he couldn't get it to work - so he gave it to me.
I'm now trying to test it in its minimal configuration with just the screen, battery, power switch and a USB cable connected.
When I switch it on, there's nothing displayed on the screen. Nothing at all. The PC detects it as a 'Bossa Program Port', and I can successfully flash the chip via sam-ba. But after a restart, it is still a 'Bossa Program Port', not the two disk drives as it is supposed to be when ersky9x is running. Yes, I did connect the TRN switch to ground - but that seem to have no effect at all.
I checked the voltages at the voltage regulators, and both 5v and 3.3v are there.
I suspected the MCU might be faulty, so I replaced it with a new one. But that didn't help...
I appreciate any ideas on how to check what is actually wrong with this board...

As well as flashing it, did you run the "script" in SAM-BA to set the "Boot form Flash" NVM bit?

Shame on me! How could I forget?!
Thanks, this certainly helped!
It's not the first time I swap the MCU on the AR9x / ARUni, but this time I completely forgot about that last step... I guess this means I need some sleep!
Now, I need to swap the chip back and see if the original one had the same "problem" (I suspect it did, and the new chip was not necessary at all)... Will leave it until tomorrow though, otherwise I'll make even more mistakes.
Thanks a lot!

We've all been there and forgotten that step (several times!).

Re: ARUni is only detected as a 'Bossa program port'. Nothing on the LCD.
Hello Mike,
I am new on this field so i dont know much about flashing. So i am stuck here. I have done the procedure with SAM-BA but still screen is not showing anything.
Should i flash the controller with the firmware with (atmelstudio) and after run the SAME firmware in SAM-BA ?
Thank you,
Telis

So you got SAM-BA working to the board.
Please confirm you flashed the firmware, and which firmware file you used?
Also, you then did run the "script" in SAM-BA to set the "Boot from Flash" NVM bit, after flashing the firmware.

Go to http://www.er9x.com/, and download "ersky9x for AR9X board".
After flashing, and setting the NVM bit, disconnect the USB, then re-connect it. Does it then connect still in SAM-BA mode, or do you get a hard drive (or two if you have a SD card installed)?

I flashed it according to your information, i reconnected it and its in SAM-BA mode.Unfortunately, nothing on the screen.

I don't know what docs you are following to flash the board, but have a look at these files. I think you might be missing the last step, which is what Mike has been trying to say..
