Download the radio's eeprom onto eepe and check the LCD contrast is at around 25. If not, set it at that value, and burn the eeprom back to the radio.

Open your eeprom from your 9xr using eepe on your PC
and go to General Settings / General Edit / Contrast
and see this setting is 25 or more.

eepe to open your eeprom_General Settings _General Edit_Contrast, and set to 25 or higher.
eepe to open your eeprom_General Settings _General Edit_Contrast, and set to 25 or higher.
MikeB wrote: Wed May 31, 2017 8:33 amThe EEPROM memory includes radio settings ("General Settings") as well as model settings.
The way to update the EEPROM is to read the existing memory, modify that on eepe, then write it back.
Please check the contrast setting. Read the EEPROM into eepe, edit the "General Settings" and make sure the contrast is at least 25.
If it isn't, change it to 25 (or 30), then write the EEPROM back.

Can you please download the eeprom from the problematic 9XR onto eepe and save it to your computer?
Then please post it here..
It looks like you didn't do what I have asked you.. :( Not possible to help you like that :(

After adjusting the settings in eepe, you need to flash the eeprom back to the radio..

Now post that file here..

But you can also do something else.
Click "Burn" and then select "Read Memory From TX".
Your eeprom will then open in eepe and you can edit it..

Save the radio's eeprom to the computer (read eeprom memory to file), then post it here on the thread.
Quote this post, then scroll down and you will see a tab called attachements. Just look for the file you saved on your computer and attach it to your post.
You can also just drag and drop it in the post window. Wait until it finishes loading and click "Submit"

I believe stotty1111, could Zip the bin file and then be able to post it too.
Though I think it is better to save it as a .eepe file.

When I try (save as) the "er9x for Mega128 processor (right click and select 'save as')"
is saved as a Hex file and not a .bin file.
It looks like all the er9x firmwares are saved as .hex files.
Can we just change the .hex file to .bin ? :?:
I did and downloaded it as a .bin file. (I have not tried to flash it.)
