Looking for the USBasp driver starts here

This page points to here

For those, who can read ;) Vista and XP not supported in ver.2.3

So, try an older version!

Don't need a zadig driver here, running Linux, but did a short test with WIN XP in vbox.
Just for you

No issue ....

Why not upgrade to Win 7. Cheap as chips.

Yes, why do it the easy way, when you can have it complicated.

You are not alone. I upgraded one of my Dell systems to Windows 10 and have had no luck getting the driver to install ... and my world is IT. After many hours I gave up completely.

The good news is, I have a whole raft of older systems all running Linux (mostly Ubuntu Mate & Ubuntu) and the software and hardware get along perfectly. I simply added the USBASP driver (via Synaptic) and perfect.

So many people sit in total frustration with their old laptop when for literally no $$$$ they could be running a much faster more stable system. I keep one Window$ system because a few of the programs I need (a music, a GPS and a tax program) exists only in that world. The Window$ system is literally 95% of my maintenance and almost 100% of my frustration.

So, haul that old laptop out of the cupboard (we all seem to have one or two) and put Ubuntu Mate on it. You might be surprised.

--- As a final note to techies ... I have been playing with Ubuntu 17.04 with the new Gnome desktop ... and am seriously impressed. Version 18 of these packages could turn out to be a game-changer. Bye bye Unity!

Don't know what to hell is all the fuss about.
I have several Win10 systems (pro, 64) here and no problems with usbasp.
Drivers installed via Zadig.

Only downside I found is this:
Arduino IDE (1.6.10) (with avrdude 6.3) only works with WinUSB drivers provided e.g. by Zadig (2.2).
But avrdude 5.1 provided e.g. with eepe (er9x) doesn't work with this driver.

On the other hand avrdude 5.1 (eepe) works with libusbk and libusb-win32,
but arduino IDE's avrdude (6.3) doesn't.

So you have to try every three drivers weather it is suitable for you.

Go to eepe, preferences, and try adding -B100 to the "Extra Arguments" field just below to COM Port..
Then try to read the firmware or the eeprom to a file. Do not try to flash the radio at this point.

I did run out of ideas, don't know what you could try next apart from getting another programmer. Can you post a picture of it?
does it plug directly to the radio?? Or did you have to use/make an adapter??

Some people say 9XR when they have a 9XR-Pro that's why I ask.
It's difficult to help when little info is given, so the helper has to guess what what hardware and software they are working with.
So we do the best we can with what info we can see.
On a different thread I said 9XR and João assumed 9XR-Pro.
This happens a lot with these two radios and there is a lot more 9XR-Pro then there are the old 9XR's out there.

Yes, please post a pic of your programmer.

Those are my two here. The lower one gave trouble from time to time, until I did a firmware update.

New member, fairly computer literate but a novice at flashing firmware. Using a Turnigy 9X, anxious to try er9X. Installed a SmartieParts usbasp and downloaded Companion 9x as well as eePe. So far spent 6-7 hours trying to write the hex file firmware to my Turnigy 9x. No luck. On my Mac, Companion 9x constantly gives error "AVRDude.exe not found". Same message on my Mac OS 10.11.6 using eePe. Used my Windows 10, no luck. Tried eePe on Windows 10 and Windows Vista....get error message that avrdude is completed but nothing written to Turnigy 9x. Used Zadig to install driver for usbasp. (Older version of Zadig for Vista laptop) Driver is installed but no luck at all. Would love to try er9X or Open TX but I am so frustrated. I may just convert my old laptop using Vista to Ubuntu 17.04....great idea!

Please try eepe on windows 10 again. When you have finished trying to flash or read, go to the "burn" menu and select "review output". Copy the text from the window that opens and post it here.

Thanks for the help! The driver I am using is : C:WINDOWS/system32/drivers/libusbK.sys

Here is the message I get from eepe:

This means that your radio has an m128 processor inside, not the m64. Go to preferences in eepe and change the processor type.
Don't try to flash anything at this time. Do a firmware read first to make sure all is ok before writing the firmware..
Double check chip, or use -F to override this check.
NEVER, BUT NEVER EVER USE THE -F OPTION, unless you want to brick your radio.. :o

Well guys, I appreciate all the help....tried to re flash setting up the eepe to the 128 processor. Suddenly, got an "Eprom Error". Looked up how to re set this, plugged in my battery pack and instant smoke! I guess my Turnigy 9X is toast! Any transmitter I can buy that comes stocked with er9x? At this point with this many hours, don't care what it mat cost me!!!

eeprom error is normal after flashing. The radio will format it..
Perhaps you plugged the battery with wrong polarity? That means instant smoke..
