switch problem in FlySky with open TX

Post by rcgyuk »

Hi,

I had an original FlySky which I modded with sound and on screen Frsky telemetry.

I passed this to a friend when I got my Taranis a couple of years ago.

He went to use it for the first time this year (worked fine last year), seems the on/off switch has a problem.

It needs to be turn on on and off several times to get it to boot up, and once it is running, if you gently even touch the switch, it either reboots or goes to blank screen.

What's the best way to proceed?

Robert

Hi,

Got the new switch, what's the best way to remove the old one. Not sure I can unsolder 8 pins simultaneously.

You probably need someone with a hot air rework station, or my favorite (and works really well) "Chipquik", which is some very low temperature solder..
That is how I removeD the switch on a couple of my radios, to solder it to a new switch board with a few protections ;)

The problem is that the switch is soldered to both sides of the board.. You could also try a good Solder Sucker/desoldering pump, but I wasn't successful with it..

My plan was to cut all the 8 pins with a Dremel and then remove the stubs one at a time....

Be careful that you don't touch the board with the dremel :) But i guess you already know this :)
