9xr Pro not connecting to PC

I got a used 9xr Pro and when i connect it to the computer it does not show up under my computer. if i set it up in bootloader it does not throw a device drive error but it does not show up either. watched videos on how to install and all of them show it in my computer. when i try to find it to install the firmware on both eepe and opentx it does not register that to transmitter is connected to the computer. i have been scouring the internet with someone with this problem but i have yet to find it i am really frustrated and not sure where to go from here

Welcome to the forum.

Make sure the USB plug is well inserted in the radio. Some need a little push to be fully inserted.. Not too hard that you break it of course

Probably you were trying on an USB3.0 port. That might not work..At least there are some reports pointing in that direction..

I don't use OpenTX but you need to use Companion to flash it..I'm sure someone else will help you with that

what someone said that with companion, which i am connecting to with my 9xr pro i should be able fro it to flash it for me but i am not sure where to get the firmware for it

I believe you have to use companion to download the firmware.

Think I figured it out but seems like because I installed the eepe firmware I'm getting an error when I try to install this one. Going to format the SD and see if tht fixes it

I'm curious to know why you wish to go to openTx rather than use ersky9x?

Mainly because I have heard of opentx since I started looking at quads only just heard of the other one.

Use ErSky9x on 9XR Pro. It was developed to support this transmitter and continues to get close support. It is actively developed.

ok thats what i have now. since i updated to that i can no seem to get my orx module to talk to my quad
this is quite the learning curve from my old dxe

If there's a problem of module compatibility going to OpenTX won't help.

no im going to stick with ErSky9x just after flashing new firmware lost my models and tried to recreate them and it wont speak to the quad. atm i am changing some setting in the protocol tab in hopes that that will be the fix

now i am getting it to bind with quad but i dont see any responses on betaflight. and all the channels are either at min or middle

Here is what i have. Like i said i really have not figured out what needs to be done this time. I have a lemon sat rx that i have on my micro and in beta i have been using set spektrum_sat_bind=7 and that has worked with my dxe

Your external protocol settings are for a 'hack' DSM module. Unless you have a module fitted internally, then you don't need anything on PPM2, so this should be off.

Is the ORX module the type that uses the internal antenna? If so, then set the sub-protocol to "9XR-DSM", otherwise, set the protocol to PPM.

It's the one with its own antenna the 2.4ghz one. So I need to set protocol to ppm and get rid of second protocol

thank you so much on the help, it is working. The 9xr pro is alot more sensistive on the sticks so i have to figure out how i can set it so that the quad is not all over the place when i try to make adjustments in the air midflight. either adjusting pids or adding an expontial on the first 4 channels on the mixer is my guess. I am guessing it is also my RX but seems like only 7 channels are registering. so im not sure about that.

You should not be touching the PIDs, only RC rate and/or expo.

Ok did not know only changed my pics once and made flying the quad much better, used a setting someone else was using.

Well you definitely want to change them to get the quad to fly better, but NOT when the goal is to adjust the response to your stick inputs.

Will bad pids cause the quad to veer when trying to hover. I have to adjust the trim alot to get it to stop flying backwards.
