opentx - calculated sensor

Post by kalle123 »

Made a screenshot of the possibilities in 2.1.8 for using "calculated" sensors.
Telemetry calculated.png
I am using the option "consumption" for calculating mAh with use of current value. It is a integration of current over time.

But what is with the rest of those possibilities? Tried to find answers in the web, but found nothing :?

ADD, AVERAGE, MIN, MAX up to four values. Function should be clear. But for what and is anyone using those functions?

MULTIPLY two values. For what?

TOTALIZE a value. Just adding up. Any example?

CELL ???

CONSUMPTION - current integration over time -> mAh. I am using that.

DISTANCE - seems to calculate a distance by using gps (and alt sensor) data. Distance over ground, absolute distance or what?

Found "Cell" explained here http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost ... ount=19953

and "Multiply" could be used to have a electrical power value by using voltage x current.

But still have the impression, calculated values are not in use very much ....

Check my OpenTX Documentation. All explained in here, Ref section 3 part 2:

Thank you, thebriars0, for point to your documentation.

I was I was looking for examples a useful application of ADD, AVERAGE, MIN, MAX and TOTALIZE.

OK. MIN, MAX I could think of something (min voltage, max current) - but ADD, AVERAGE and TOTALIZE?

The rest (MULTIPLY, CELL, CONSUMPTION and DISTANCE) is clear to me.

OK, how about a 12S pack with 2 voltage sensors. Use ADD to add the 2 voltages together. How about AVERAGE say of all the cell voltages in a flight pack. May want to use this instead of total voltage as an indication of capacity left in battery. Easier than having to remember pack values and calculate useful voltage left when flying different models with different number of flight battery cells. So if you want to fly until the average cell voltage gets down to say 3.6v you could use this instead of having to think of 5 times 3.6 for a 5S or 3 times 3.6 for a 3S.

TOTALIZE? Maybe someone wants the total of a series of voltages recorded every, say, 20 seconds for their own specialised sensor plugged into analogue port A2.

Totalize was implemented on request from someone who wanted to make a "fuel used" sensor, but in the end it never came out.

OK. OK.

But lets take "TOTALIZE". Were do you see the factor time? And there has to be a time factor .... Add up every x sec? I don't see that in the sheet ...

That particular sensor would only have sent values when needed (relatively rarely), and they would just get added.
