What plug to use?

Post by numanair »

Hello everyone, I'm new here.
I have not yet received my 9x, but I've been looking at getting a cheap USBasp from ebay as well as a connector to mount on the tx. I've seen some people use different connectors here, including ps/2 and d-sub. I was originally just going to use a male connector like that on the USBasp, but finding a 10 pin IDC header for ribbon cables (with strain relief piece?) seems to be impossible. Where can I find one?

But the connector is not easy to use. Using a connector designed to be plugged and unplugged is much easier.

Also, consider leaving the programmer in the radio and plugging in with a USB plug.

Thanks, but those don't seem to be for use with ribbon cables. Is there a specific connector you recommend?

The USB breakout board comes from Sparkfun.

I found this the easiest to wire up:

You can also see my original guide here:

BTW, the programmer HobbyKing sells is cheap and works great:

Hope this helps.
