G-RX8
Can I upgrade this receiver with the TX as we do with X8R etc.
I suppose that I have to make a new cable with another Smatport connector.
My problem is that CH7 doesn't work. Not in Sbus mode as documented, but also not in PWM mode.

Re: G-RX8 software upgrade
Upgrade with TX is one possibility, usually a matching cable comes with the RX.
Channel 7 is presumably a hardware issue. There is no reverse polarity protection for the GPIOs. Once a servo reverse connected and powered up, is sufficient to destroy the specific output. Presumably FrSky changes this in the upcoming version.

Re: G-RX8 software upgrade
Thanks Carbo,
My TX is Q X7S. Do you think I can Use the TX Smartport when I upgrade G-RX8? If so then I can use the cable that came with the RX.
Otherwise I have to modify a cable to use it in the modul bay, as in X9D.

Re: G-RX8 software upgrade
I found a really good description here. No need to modify cable:

Re: G-RX8 software upgrade
If ch7 is not working also in SBUS as he says, then it is very unlikely that it is an hardware problem..chapterone wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2017 3:57 pm

Re: G-RX8 software upgrade
You can select SBus or PWM mode with G-RX8. His issue is the missing PWM signal on PWM7. SBus is not affected.
Re: G-RX8 software upgrade
His post does say sbus is affected.

Re: G-RX8 software upgrade
João,
Good comment as always.
BUUUT
what I ment to say was that CH7 Pins are disabled in Sbus mode.
I haven't checked CH7 in Sbus mode so now I have to do my homework.
Thanks

Aha, more clear.
Then I guess some reading the manual is needed since it's described exactly that way.
