Just as a general question:
Can the version of the companion software and the firmware being used on the radio be mixed?
For example, if I'm using companion 2.0.5, can I load version 2.0.7 of the firmware?
Can I switch back to 2.0.5 if I later find that some problem was created on 2.0.7?
Also, what if I upgrade to companion 2.0.7....can I load 2.0.5 on the radio?
What problems could be generated in these scenarios?
My guess is that you probably shouldn't run the version of companion that isn't the same version of the firmware.
Thoughts?

As long as the first 2 digits match you're OK.

Re: Can version of companion and firmware be mixed?
I am interested in this too. I had bootloader 2.01 and firmware 2.07. Didn't even realise it eas possible.
Would it be worth incorporating a warning ?

It is definitely not a problem.seancull wrote:I am interested in this too. I had bootloader 2.01 and firmware 2.07. Didn't even realise it eas possible.

We had that discussion before.

Kalle123,
That link doesn't really address the question for two reasons:
1. That link is mostly talking about bootloaders
2. It doesn't dicuss how the different versions of companion might impact the firmware or the eeprom data on the radio.
It would be great to hear that it doesn't really matter, but from what I can tell there are possibly some issues when shifting from one firmware to the next and which version of the companion software might also be in the mix.

Mike, I tried to give an answer to that question by seancull.
"I had bootloader 2.01 and firmware 2.07"
and we know, that THAT is not an issue!
OK, it is NOT answering your prime question here.
"Can version of companion and firmware be mixed?"
But there are other people around ....

Even though I don't have a Taranis, it was interesting to learn.
Thanks for the info!
