D8X and high res altimeter

Hi
I am having a problem with the high resolution altimeter connected to a r8x receiver getting zero altitude reading all other telemetry readings seem fine the led on the altimeter flashes as you would expect
I have one of these connected to a dr8 rx and that works fine
Do i have to change any of the telemetry setting on the TX to match this D8x to altimeter link?

If the receiver is an X8R you need the radio to be set to D16 mode to get any smart port telemetry.

I have bound the R/Xtothe transmitter in the D16 channels 1-8 mode and get no telemetry readings of any sort
When bound in D8 mode I get RSSI and battery voltage
Anything else I could try?
