Can somebody tell me the maximum input voltage of the Taranis internal charger ?
Is it possible to power it from an car battery or a car generator (up to 15 volts)
Thanks for your answers.
bye
Chris

Re: Input voltage of Taranis internal charger
The supplied charger provides 12V. Internally there is a LM317 that regulates the current, and consequently dissipates heat. I would need to open the case up and check what the package is and check how much heat it can handle.
I would suggest limiting the voltage to 12V. The charge current is around 250mA, so if you want to use a charge voltage higher than 12, It would be worth adding a series resistor to drop the voltage to 12V.
So, 15V source, drop 3V to 12V at 250mA needs a 12 ohm resistor. The resistor would dissipate 3*0.25W = .75W, so use at least a 1W resistor.
