I use gimp. LCD size is 212x64. 4bits depth (16 grayscales, but the tones are not linear at all, so you will really need to test on the Tx)

For the planes icons, it's 64x32. And the format must be BMP either 1bit (black and white) or 4bits (grayscales).

"Your donation will ensure that it remains free and open".

First of all I totally understand the intent -- but let me play devils advocate for just a minute. This can be read several ways.

1. I've donated therefore we have a contract that it will remain free and open. (not intended)
- OR -
2. It's a veiled threat - "If we don't get enough donations then we're going to retract the free and open status". (not intended, and negative)
- OR -
3. Dude -- we put our blood sweat and tears into this code. How about chipping in enough to buy a round of drinks. (pretty much on target)

Let's just say -- IF nobody donates (for the sake of argument) -- is the status of "free and open" REALLY going to change? Are you doing this so you'll receive recompense?? If so, you're already on your way out the door. If not, then the wording is not appropriate.

I'm not opposed to a "supported by your donations". sort of line... but the if-then part I find a bit worrisome.

OR -- "Donate to this software and we'll include your name in the credits". Now there is an incentive.

Not trying to stir the s*** pot. Just looking through a different pair of glasses.

I love all ya coders -- and not in the creepy way.

Well, I am not native english, I mainly use it for work / technical stuff. I found the formula in another open source, and compressed it a little bit so that it fits in this screen! Feel free to propose something better (that fits!) and I will change.

1. and 2. are wrong

3. (Dude...) is exactly what I have in mind :)

I still think that the idea of the 1st phrase must remain. I received some emails from people that thought we were paid by FrSky for the port, which is NOT the case.

We have done everything for free, just because we enjoyed it (working together with Mike/Romolo/André was for me a pleasure), and we have done it the best way we can, because we will fly with this Tx!

I can see both points.

Any one got a suggestion of some subtley different wording that getsnthebmesaage across - with out being misconstrued?

Just use a standard opensource disclaimer. Like the one from Debian.

This software is opensource and comes with no warranties. Check gnu.org for details.
It can be distributed for free but donations are welcome. OpenTX is a noncommercial project and not affiliated with FrSky.

I like a line such as "OpenTX developers are not paid. Development is supported by donations of the users". Or just "OpenTX development is supported by donations of users. Your support is appreciated".

It makes no promises, just states the facts.

I really hate to be such a pain in the butt and hair splitter -- but I think there is one small tiny change that I think is needed -- for proper meaning it should say "It may be distributed..." rather than "It can be distributed..."

It's quicker to type openTx in google and end straight where you want than to type a complete URL nowadays ;)
