Companion 2.2.1 and FrSky GPS Sensor (V2) Not working

Post by seabee »

If this has already been addressed I apologise but I can't find it.

I am running Companion 2.2.1 from this build (companion22_2.2.1_amd64.deb) on the original Taranis X9D with LBT firmware.

I have a GPS Sensor (V2) connected to an X6R Receiver and I have just noticed that it is no longer getting any GPS Data. The year is set at 2000 and everything else is zero. If I disconnected it I get "A sensor not functioning" message. The LED is flashing at Middle Speed which means either no Smart Port connection or No GPS location. I presume the latter.

The last time I knew it to be functioning was with Companion 2.1.8 - the installation has not been touched.

Is the sensor faulty or is there a known GPS problem with 2.2.1 ?

I wondered about that so I put it on my flat roof with no obstruction higher than 10 degrees from the horizontal next to my running watch. The watch locks on in about a minute. The sensor is still seeing nothing after 15 minutes so I guess it is faulty?

Possibly. Make sure it is as far as possible from the receiver as it can be disturbed by it.

That was it!
Moved the GPS sensor 5cm away from the receiver on an extension lead outside the model and it works properly.
Before it was stacked on top of the receiver.
Don't understand why the receiver should cause it a problem now when it didn't before but obviously it does.

Thanks once again for your help.
