Files size error

Post by lnelson15 »

Hello Everybody!

Using Windows 10 with latest version of eepskye from e9rx.com. Used admin rights to install eepe/eepskye download. Put the eepskye shortcut to my desktop. Opened eepskye no problem. Downloaded ersky9xr_rom.bin file for 9xr pro. When trying to open same with eepskye I get solid file size errors for unknown reason. Any clues? Any help appreciated of course and thanks!

Too bad Hobbyking did not see fit create a comprehensive manual for the 9XR Pro. I am not too old, but I have left my 9XR Pro radio setting on the shelf as I dreaded having to move thru a multitude of .pdf's to do all the necessary tasks to use it LOL.

When you open a file in eepskye, it is expecting an EEPROM file. The firmware file is something different.
All you need to do with the firmware file (ersky9xr_rom.bin) is either flash it to the radio or copy it to the SD card in the radio.

I take it you are referring to the pdf files here: viewtopic.php?f=123&t=5581, that were written specifically because HK didn't produce a manual.

Progress

Post by lnelson15 »

Well I made some progress today. I got the radio hooked up to the PC. I saved off all the different images on the transmitter. I installed ERSKY9X Version 220. I got the part I understood about a model set up most of the way. I got most of the radio settings that I understood set up. i'll keep working on it a few days and see what I end up with okay.

Templates

Post by lnelson15 »

I guess this might not be the right spot for this question but are the templates working? I select the sticky throttle cut template and the radio vibrates but when I check back in the mixer there's no change. I noticed the model setup menus have been consolidated into one screen with some sub screens which is a bit different than the available write up. TIA for any help...

i've decided to spend an hour a day trying to learn what I can about this radio.

If you updated to the latest ersky9x firmware, there are changes compared to the ultra old version the radio ships with..

Please go here and download the er9x manual.

viewtopic.php?f=5&t=6473

Er9x is a lighter version of ErSky9x that runs on the 9x radio, and has less features of course. The basics are the same though..

The sticky throttle cut is not programmed in the mixer anymore. It has its own function in the "Safety Switches" menu and it is indicated by an "X". After applying the template, please go to the Model setup/safety switches menu, and look at the throttle channel.. You should have something like:

CH3 X -100 THR ("X" means that the safety switch is a sticky throttle cut)

As you can see, it is much easier now to program it ;) :)
