Fuel Sensor with OXS 7.0
Hi all together
Wow. great projekt.
As my Taranis will arrive these days, i`m reading about this sensor and be willing to build and use one.
i`ve read the oXs_config_description.h many times.
Is it possible to use the field Fuel (on Taranis) for e.g. with Volt_6 (with OXS 7.0) to build a fuel sensor for my gas/petrol tank
Or do i have to use OXS 5 to have this option.
Greetings from Austria
Werner

Re: Fuel Sensor with OXS 7.0
Werner, what sensor do you have in mind to connect to oXs?
INPUT - level of gas tank or fuel flow meter and OUTPUT 0 ... 5V?

Re: Fuel Sensor with OXS 7.0
IIt is currently not possible to send VOLT6 as Fuel in version 7.
I had expected it was not requested because I though that FUEL would be calculated on Tx side based on consumption (in mah) and battery capacity.
Still if request, I could add it to oXs version 7.
In the mean time, easier is to use version 5

Re: Fuel Sensor with OXS 7.0
Thanks
I want to build a fuel level sensor with hall element SS49E (1v -4V output) for my gas tank on Volt4 @ FUEL Field on Taranis
(@Kalle - ein Schwimmmerarm mit zwei Magneten im inneren montiert, berührungslos von der Aussenseite des Kunsstofftanks mit den Hall Sensor abgenommen)
Would be great to have all output fields available for DIY Projekts.
i`m right that A3 and A4 (s.port only) are not alvailable in OXS 7 too?
i want to Monitor my 2 pcs RX Batteries and ignition Battery.... A2, A3, A4 (Volt1, Volt2, Volt3) would be perfekt to monitor this on the taranis, i think
on the top i want to use RPM, Alt and GPS
Would bo great to have it in OXS 7 ,because lack of GPSsupport in OXS 5.
Keep up the great work

Re: Fuel Sensor with OXS 7.0
I just put on github a new version that allows to transmit VOLT_1...VOLT_6 as Fuel, A3 and/or A4.
I did not tested it so if you got an issue, let me know.
Note: this version fills A3 and A4 with the voltages (normally in mVolt but it can be changed using scaling and offset parameter in oXs).
Still I think I remember that A3 and A4 got a special conversion on Tx side. So probably I have to add some conversion in oXs too but I do not know which one at this moment.

Re: Fuel Sensor with OXS 7.0
Wohoo...
That was fast
Parts of my hardware are on the long way from the east.
I report back in a few days, so i hope.
Thanks

Re: Fuel Sensor with OXS 7.0
I'm also interested in this.. Is there any info on how to build such a fuel Gauge?
Thanks

Re: Fuel Sensor with OXS 7.0
I want to try my luck with a swim sensor with two neodymium magnets mountet. and with a hall element on the outside of the tank (https://dscl.lcsr.jhu.edu/main/images/3 ... asheet.pdf)
An option is to use a flow meter which gives Pulses.

@mstrens
Would be great to implement an impuls counter for such hardware
Cheers

i Read this about scaling A3/A4
kilrah commented on 10 Jan 2015
A1/A2 are legacy from the D protocol and are transmitted as a single byte, i.e. 0-255 where 255 is 3.3V at the input.
For A3/A4 as the whole smart port protocol is available FrSky decided to describe it as V*100 (i.e. 3.3V = 330), which makes sense as the resolution is increased and it's clearer.
