Units to be used as telemetry field for airspeed

Post by mstrens »

In SPORT protocol, when I fill the telemetry field AIR_SPEED_FIRST_ID with a value e.g. "100" , the taranis displays a value "18" in the airspeed field.
I am using openTx 2.0.5 and the set up is metric.

I had expected that the value sent by the sensor had to be in km/h but it seems I was wrong.
If the sent unit would have been in m/sec and the displayed km/s, sending 100 (m/s) would result in 360 (km/h) and not 18.

Can one openTX developper clarify this.
Is the current conversion normal?

Does OpenXSensor support AirSpeed sensors of some sort?

I am currently finalising a version that can calculate the airspeed (up to 360 km/h) based on a sensor 4525DO-DS5AI001DP.
This version is currently in test.
I plan to put it on google within 1or 2 weeks.
It will also support 2 MS5611 (baro) sensor. One can give the altitude and the uncompensated verticalspeed; the other can be connected with a TEK probe in order to get a compensated verticalspeed. The difference between the 2 altitude could also give an indication of the airspeed.
