Could make an interesting FPV groundstation if somebody figures out how to grab composite video on one of its GPIOs. This could do it all, RSSI sensing, diversity, GPS overlay, OSD, DVR, data logging ....
pair it with an inexpensive 7" touchscreen and you got yourself an (slightly overcomplicated) open, configurable diversity receiver, DVR and monitor.

I got a new Pi for Xmas to be delivered today, dec 29. Now I'll have to do something fun with it. I was wondering if it's capable of running a Linux version of er9x, sky9x, Opentx? I've not followed the os versions available and have only used the windows versions so far. If one could use the Pi to program our open source radios it may be a cost effective option to use one programming platform? Win, Mac, new users without a computer?

Managed to build companion on a similar but more powerful SBC (cubieboard2) last year. About a couple of days of work to find out how to build all the dependencies and do so, but it worked. Of course needed multiple tries such that I haven't been able to keep notes to make a how-to, and of course it would be obsolete by now anyway due to evolutions on all sides and platform difference.
