Hi, if somebody is flying FrSky D- series receivers ( D8R/ D4R ) and is missing ModelID, something for inspiration:

Model QID for FrSky D- series receivers
Re: Model QID for FrSky D- series receivers
The good thing that I believe you do not mention, is that people can have telemetry at the same time from the openXsensor. You can even read individual battery cells. This is how I use this sensor. You could even make a variometer.
For me, using it just as a model ID is kind of a waste..
For information, if you have the multiprotocol RF module, you don't need this. With this module you have receiver match even on the D8 receivers..

Re: Model QID for FrSky D- series receivers
I mentioned that description of OXS modification will be in next article, bus the translator was not very correct in translation Decription of OXS modification will be in few days...
If it`s kind of a waste ... this is for guys not using OXS. The priciple is aplicabte to any kind of DIY issues.

Re: Model QID for FrSky D- series receivers
By "Kind of a waste" I mean that the sensor has quite a potential to be used as a standalone ID thingy.
For example, I see no point of using this one, and then another sensor in the model, when this one can do it all. This is what I meant.
The other people you mention that will use this, will anyway have to use telemetry to be able to receive the information from this board.. so, there are really no others
People without telemetry won't be able to use it anyway.

Re: Model QID for FrSky D- series receivers
There is amount of people, that are not so electronic hobbist to complete OXS. Simple voltage sensor is a great effort for them. So this is a simple thing with possible upgrade, therefore I used connection wiring to RX pin no.4 as in OXS default. That`s not for you or other OXS guru...
Re: Model QID for FrSky D- series receivers
I'm not criticising.. I am just saying that the oXs can do much more than that..
Anyway, in my opinion if people can solder the wires for the serial, they are also able to solder 2 resistors for a simple voltage sensor Also, if you connect the oXs, you cannot connect any other HUB sensor. you will become limited to the Analog ports A1 and A2, and you have to make a 2 resistor sensors for them anyway
A voltage sensor is very helpful as it can prevent you from damaging the batteries. Every year I see many new batteries being damaged at the filed because the people discharge them too much.. What a waste of good batteries, but then they make fun of me because I use all these electronics on my models.. The truth is, my batteries lasted over 5 years So, at the end I'm the one making fun of them when their batteries get thicker.. But they don't care, some of them have a lot of money..
