They made a radio like all the others.. :(
And they were the reason I moved to open source.. Very disappointed, but happy I spent the money on something else :D

Something the guy said:
"It is much easier than OpenTX" ;) :)

No doubt it will sell well though

By saying that you also mean that you wasted money with your 9xr pro.
Taranis as hard as it is, is the second most sold radio out there. Only futaba is ahead and probably not for long.

Nope :) I didn't waste money on my 9XR-PRO :D
And I wouldn't certainly waste my money on Taranis either..
The horus was the most probable. But they have messed up in my opinion, and that is only my opinion. So, I won't waste my money on Horus either, the same I won't waste my money on a Futaba, cos that is what Horus reminds me of after watching that video ;)
The more I read and see about other radios, the more I'm convinced that I already have the best radios.. Again, my own personal opinion..

I have an early Taranis A. I fairly recently flashed ErSky9x to it and like the result very much. It took a little while to get used to the different button arrangement but I soon became very comfortable with it.

When i saw it was on pre-sale, i though it was a bit weird, because everybody knows that frsky is still sending prototipes to some reviewers / testers and for what i gathered a few more months will be needed untill the final product, but i also read that the radio would be available for Christmas 2015.
So i kind of believed that it would be available real soon.
In any of the cases i will not buy untill at least 2 years after release. I waited with the taranis and it payed off, you can see the difference between the first taranis and the plus.

Its still a lot of money for me.
I like that the display screen is at the top, it the highest plus for me.
You can have two erSky9x on Taranis radios, for the price of one Horus X12D with out ersky9x firmware.
ErSky9x on Taranis is still a better option for me and I already have one ! :D
And who knows, someone with a 3D printer, may make new case halves for the Taranis and/or 9x radios,
which will moving the display-screen to the top of the radio :!: 8-) :D

I also like the idea of a custom case. For example, for me as I fly models mode 2 and with my thumbs, switches on the right hand side (apart from throttle cut) are absolutely useless.
I would make a case taking that into account, along with the display at the top ; ) :)

Definetly! Also the gimbals are a great plus...non friction.

Now that's bold, but i dont forsee it. :? Too much to consider...wire length, etc, almost better to turn the radio upside down and invert everything...

It would take just someone crazy enough to start making them ;)
Maybe one day it becomes cheap to design our own cases and order them online.

It already is, although when your reference is Chinese-made mass-produced items it will never match the same definition of cheap.

A custom case for the Taranis hardware would need some custom PCB to be made too to extend the LCD connection unless you're OK to have the top part as wide as the whole mainboard, which could actually be OK if you take for example the Multiplex Profi radio as comparison.

For the 9x LCD that wouldn't be the case I suppose.

I can see it being done ! :D
Would maybe need longer connection cable for the display-screen, which may be the most difficult part to over-come,
maybe could be able to purchase an extension cable for it !
Also I believe Mike has an option to flip the display screen upside down if that were needed too.
I think the rest of the wires could be lengthen with little trouble, if needed.
Move the turn-pots and speaker to the bottom where the display screen is now.
Switches need to be at the top where it is easier to reach them.
Ones the basic dimensions of two case halves are in the cad program for the 3D Printer, the What-May-Be door is then opened. :D

For the Taranis with its beautiful wide display-screen, it could just be moved above the switches.
Top of the radio only needs display-screen and antennas.
Programming switches, button controls can stay at the bottom of the radio where main board and battery compartment
also staying at bottom of the radio. :D

I already have a couple of display extensions for the 9x display ;)

The Ar9x board website sells them ;)

http://ar9x.net/index.php?route=product ... ry&path=26

Also the Ar9x board is fantastic if you plan to DIY as all pins are made available on pads or headers. Mostly headers..

That is what I will use for my DIY tx unless JK comes out with something more powerful ;)
