Horus x12s MC12P gimbal install

Has anyone attempted to replace their original x12s gimbals with the new MC12P gimbal?
I installed and calibrated the new gimbals, but all I seem to get from them is noise. The signal just jumps around. If I fully deflect the sticks I can see some movement on my GUI, but it's nothing with which I could fly.
What am I doing wrong?
