Range Issue : where does it come from ? 9XR / RX / TX ?

erskyTx runs on many radios and upgrade boards
ersky9x was a port of er9x for use on the sky9x board.

Range Issue : where does it come from ? 9XR / RX / TX ?

Post by boutbou »

Hi everyone,

I got some new issues on my RX/TX transmissions:

Set Up:
Helix , F3 FC on BF3.1 , Sbus actived and OK
X4R-SB on EU LBT , worked Ok on previous quad
9XR Pro on ersky9x r220
XJT module with EU LBT fw, used with a 5dbi antenna since 6 months

So i used to have an XSR on this quad , worked fine until a chopped of the antennas... And managed to distroyed the antenna pad on it ..

I decided to use my spare X4r SB on my hélix , but I had first to desolder the pins to fit it .
I may have overheat the X4r PCB in the process ( some pin pads pop out .. , I really have to buy a good iron soon)

The antennas on my X4R are brand new.

Range is bad , fail safe a 500ft / 150m , rssi is 70 ich at 10ft.

I found some info about bad soldered XJT mdules , check mine , it's OK , I also found that some RF module was faulty afeter some time after been used with 5dbi antennas, and they need a reset factory to work again.

I change my radio fw to the last version without succes, change my antenna to the orignal one.

What do you think guys ? need some advices here !

How do you reset radio ( and XJT maybe) , and do a fresh clean fw flash , without loosing all my models/setup if possible ^^

thanks

Bout

The radio and its firmware have nothing to do with the bad range problem. You either have a bad antenna, a bad RF module, a bad receiver, or a combination of some or all problems. I would start changing one thing at the time. Antennas, receiver, test the receiver with another module from a friend, test other known working receivers with your moduke, etc..

Already started this test protocol
Have change my antennas and ordered some new X4R

I guess I will try to find someone with 9xr and xjt close to me.

you don't need to find anyone with the 9XR-PRO specifically.. it can be any other radio as long as it has a XJT module.
As I said, the radio itself does not transmit anything. And if you are getting some range, that means the radio is doing its job and sending a signal to the XJT.
