For the love of God..Bind xjt x8r!

Please help, I just can't get this combo to bind in any mode.

Using:

Turnigy 9x smartieparts 9extreme board flashed with ersky9x revision 218.
frsky xjt
frsky x8r, jumper 1,2/3,4
model setup protocol pxx (d16), america, rxnum 1

I just switched from djt which worked in 8 channel mode and that bound fine. Please let me know if you need any more info.

Why any jumpers on the X8R?
Please try without any jumpers.
Power up the Tx and enter bind mode, then power up th Rx holding the small button pressed. The red LED should start flashing indicating bind is successful.

I need 16 channels. 1-8 sbus 9-16 servo cables. Based on what I've read so far this is the way to do it.

I've tried all modes, no jumpers to no avail.

Where and when were both the XJT and the X8R purchased?

both on amazon recently. the xjt module has a date of 2015/12/17. The x8r 2015/10/16x? messily stamped on the side.

I bought the frsky update cable on ebay this morning thinking the x8r might need to be updated. I can't find any info on whether the external xjt module needs updated. I'm only finding stuff for the taranis internal module.

i already done it (using 9x ,er9x ,xjt ,x8r) and yes it will work , just follow this video
