ERSKY9X on Taranis

erskyTx runs on many radios and upgrade boards
ersky9x was a port of er9x for use on the sky9x board.

Check all settings on the models to make sure all is ok. Expect some settings to be changed.

Result! It worked. Thanks.

You were right, I need to change a few settings. On the 9XR I have a flight controller that has 3 profiles which are selectable from the sIDx switch. The weight is set to 80 to compensate for ER9X outputting at 125% compared to other makes of Tx. The gyro gain for the FC is via the P2 knob at weight 100. On the Taranis I'd like to assign the profile assignment to switch SE but setting this up doesn't appear to be as intuitive as the 9XR? And for the gain I'd like to assign this to the left slider (LS) but it doesn't appear to be selectable?

Also, the speaker is making a constant faint buzzing sound. And the inactivity alarm is a periodic quiet click. Is this still work in progress?

I don't have a taranis so I will let someone else help you with this one..

The speaker on taranis is known to make a buzzing sound, normally caused by RF interference. What RF module are you using?

Follow this link and try the pack named "Voice Pack 9XR-Pro 16Khz.zip"
Unzip it inside the root directory of your sd card.
The card structure for ersky9x is different from openTX.

I assume on er9x you just set the source of a mix to the ID0-1-2 switch. If so, then you just need to select SE as the source of a mix. Doing so causes the mix to have source values of -100%, 0% and 100% for the three switch positions.
Perhaps you had a more complicated set of mixes to do this job.

The left slider should appear in the list of mix sources, after P1 and P2 you have SL and SR as the two sliders.

With no voice file available for the inactivity alarm, you are probably just hearing the click(s) as the volume level is changed.

Thanks Joao & Mike

I've got the sound pack installed and working :)
I think I've got the 3POS switch and SL configured as well but I'll need to check it out on my model which leads me on to another question. In the original Taranis OpenTX FW there was a menu option to bind the internal module with the Rx. I can't find this option in ersky9x?

Model setup menu/ Protocols.
This is only available if you select PXX I think..

Yes, if I change the setting from PPM to PXX all the remaining settings change. The receivers I'll be binding to are Frsky. I've got a Delta 8 outputting PWM (and all the associated spaghetti) and a D8R-XP outputting CPPM. I'm assuming that the "XX" part of PXX means that the settings are for both modulations?

Then there some are other settings where it would be helpful to clarify what they mean:-

RxNum 0 - not sure what this is?
Type D16 - I'm ok with this one. I found a guide somewhere that specifies I need to select D8 for my Rx's
Country Ame/Jap/Eur - I bought all my equipment before the EU directive that has been causing some Frsky owners a headache. I assume that if I set it to Eur then it will invoke the protocol for EU compliance. If that's correct then I guess it would be better to leave it as Ame?
1st Chan 1 - I guess I need to leave this as it is?
Bind - I guess this puts the internal module into bind mode?
Range Check - Obvious what it is but I can't find any documentation how to use it?

Sorry if this is somewhat Frsky specific.

When you bind in D16 mode to a 'X' type receiver, the RxNum is stored in the receiver. If you have several receivers in different models, you use a different RxNum for each. Only a receiver bound withj the same number as the transmitter is using will respond, so you get a "receiver match" function for safety. Just use a different RxNum in each model.
Ame/Jap/Eur existed before the latest EU directive, it is only used, I believe, to determine maximum power output, and which channels are available for 'hopping'. Use Eur in Europe.
1st Chan, simply means channel 1 is the first channel used to send to the module and so is the channel output on CH1 of the receiver.
Bind indeed does put the module into Bind mode, press EXIT (bottom right key) to stop bind mode.
Range Check: With this highlighted, simply press MENU LONG and the XJT module is put into range check (reduced power) mode. The display will show the current received RSSI of the receiver. Again, EXIT to terminate.

Mike, I think he is trying to bind "D" series receivers.. Does the bind option in the radio also works with this type of receiver? I thought it didn't :o

As long as you are using PXX, then yes BIND and RANGE CHECK both work with a XJT module in D8 mode.

Just a follow up from previous posts. The bench testing with ersky9x on the Taranis all went well and the field testing also proved successful with about 12 flights and no glitches. The only issue is that in this version of the FW (erxd-r218) the Copy Trim function doesn't work on any of the channels.................but I think you already knew that ;)

What date and time do you have on the "Version" menu?
I have 26-08-2015 at 15:07:55, and the copy trim function seems to be working.

The latest test versions, which is what I will have just checked, are here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4676.

Try "ersky9xProvR218d.zip". This is the most recent for the Taranis. The bluetooth ones don't include Taranis versions as, currently, bluetooth is not supported on the Taranis.

Not sure what you're talking about, PiSpkr makes no sense on Taranis so obviously doesn't exist.

The PiSpkr was added to er9x, for the 9X radio, to allow better auidio tones. The Taranis has a full capability audio output, so the audio tones are generated by that. There is no beeper or PiSpkr needed. The audio provides voice output as well.

To run ersky9x on the Taranis you use either X9D_rom.bin (for the standard Taranis) or X9DP_rom.bin (for the Taranis Plus), both available from here: http://www.er9x.com/.

Hi,
Programming erSky9x on Taranis - x9d, I need some help.
In Model Setup / Mixer, using SG and SE switches, when switch SE- is at center position,
I need SG- center position value and SG↓ down position values to change to SG↑ up position value.
Or maybe better said: when at SE- then SG- and SG↓ will then = SG↑ value.
How do I program this to work ? :?:

No, at present I have source set to HALF (CH5).
Problem is when Failsafe SE- (NASA return to Home) is used, then Manual SG↑ (NASA Manual operation)
must be in this switch position for it to work properly (big trouble if it is not).
erSky9x on Taranis SW program for NASA Lite U control switches CH5 with SE and SG switches.

I am not sure how to do this.

Looking at your mixes, if SE is NOT at the middle position, then you have CH05 at -61%, +5% or +71% depending on SG.
When SE is in the middle, you have +100% added, so giving +39%, +105% and +171% (although the last 2 will be limited to +100% by the limits).
If what you want is +39% when SE is in the middle, regtardless of where SG is, simply use a "Replace" multiplex mix:
R +39% HALF Switch(SE-).
Then when SE is in the middle all the mixes with SG in them will be ignored as the SE- line replaces them.

BTW, you don't need to specify "no trim" when HALF is the source, "no trim" is only needed if one of the sticks is the source.

I made some changes to CH5 mixing.
Being new to setting up and using the NASA M-Lite flight controller, CH5 was to 3 position switch SG of Attitude / GPS / Manual.
I made an error thinking was in Attitude switch position and wanted to change to GPS, but I was in GPS mode and switched to Manual,
which the quad then fell about 12 feet to the ground breaking one propeller and some other things that were easily fixed.
So I moved the Manual Switch to SA- and made SG↓ the same as SG↑ (Attitude).
I also needed to change the SA- value to 67% from 61%.
This change will help me from making this error again.

CH5: SG↓ and SG↑ = Attitude and the SG- = GPS.
SA- = Manual
SE- = FailSafe: (Return to Home)

CH7: SD↑ = OFF: (IOC OFF), SD- = Course Lock and SD↓= Home Lock.

Update June 7, 2016: I have made some changes in Mixes, moving CH7 Mixes to CH6
and adding Head-tracking mixes to channels CH7 and CH8.

This is using ErSky9x on Taranis, if using OpenTX, change HALF to MAX (HALF in Ersky9x is the same as MAX in OpenTX).
