Thinking about downgrading firmware

erskyTx runs on many radios and upgrade boards
ersky9x was a port of er9x for use on the sky9x board.

Thinking about downgrading firmware

Post by Neptune769 »

Hello Everyone,

I could use some recommendations. I have a 9XR Pro that I'm working on modifying. This radio is going to be primarily for scale boats. I will be making a whole new case for the guts. The throttle sticks will be two up/down sticks set very close to one another as in old Ace Nautical Commander. It will be hall affect instead of pots. It will have an encoder similar to the Spectrum TXs. It will also be a tray style radio. I have the machining experience. I don't have a problem with any of the above. The problem I'm having is software. I have ersky9x-r220 and Mod: REVB-X and I made some voice files for the model names. I can't seem to figure out how to get them in the TX. I have them as .wav files no more than 8 characters long. They are on the SD card in voice/modelnames folder. I tried doing it through the radio and with eepskye rev422. I can't seem to find any forum posts, Youtube videos, or manuals for my versions. I thought about downgrading the firmware to coincide with the manual "Ersky9x Explained" for version r204. However I can't seem to find a link to download it or any info on the difference between r204 and r220. I don't think the difference will affect me with boats. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dennis L.

Model Setup / General.
First option is model name. The second option is "Voice". Then there is a number as default. I think you will have to press long to access the file names.. numbers is too old and normally not used in ersky9x anymore.

Mike, could you please make file names the default?
It is confusing for new users like this :(
They are told they should use only named files, but then the firmware asks them for numbered files :(

Thanks

João

here is a link to TTSAutomate, which is a tool developed specially for creating voice files for Ersky9x

https://github.com/CaffeineAU/TTSAutomate

It will create all folders needed for Ersky9x as well. Attached is the Phrase file I use for my voices. Just unzip it to your computer, and load it on the TTSAutomate tool. Modify it for your models.. Do not change the System files though.. You can add your own files in the user folder. Play with it, it is easy to work with :)
ErSy9x Phrase file.zip
(2.3 KiB) Downloaded 276 times
Also, in case you like music like me ;) :) have a look at this
Background Music Guide.pdf
(56.84 KiB) Downloaded 273 times
Ersky9x has a full Music player that can be controlled by the radio switches :) I do listen to music while flying my models. Or in between flights when I am alone at the field and have no one to talk to :)
If you want you can create a model called "Player". As you have the 9XR-PRO, you can just connect a 3.5mm jack plug in the trainer port to power the radio without the RF module, just leave the main power switch in the OFF position. Like this, the RF module will not be draining the battery while you listen to music :)

I'll do that, and also look into removing numbered files all together.

Thank you. You could perhaps still support the numbered files in the Voice alarms menu??
The only difference would be that the firmware would look for those files inside the user folder..
The reason is, if you wanted to play a sequence of files, and starting the next file with a switch/logical switch, how would you do it?
Could we use the music player for that? we can certainly play next and previous, but how could we reset to the first file? stopping the player will resume on the same file next time we start it. I do like this because when we are listening to music it starts from where it stopped last time. Perhaps we need a reset function to start from the first file again?

If the player could do this well, perhaps there would be no reason to support numbered files?

Thanks

Thank you João & Mike,

I was able to use the TTSAutomate software. Once I figured it out it worked fantastic. I just have to upload it into the TX.

Thanks again,
