Thx, Kilrah. that is what I didn't know. +/- 2 degree? Wow!
I think the goggles would make more sense if we had 2 cameras on board to have real 3D.. just me thinking
yep, I also looked into HD 16:9 camera lens. but, it cost ~ 1K at present time. that has to wait. :-S
but I did find this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dual-camera-car ... 3f153254c8

If 'someone' can hack this, then you will get a true wide angle view without wide angle lens' distortion. (look at the last pic of the item display screen)

As a start, that is good enough for me too. I am just planning ahead to get the components that would be used for longer range after I get used to the closer range.
You don't think I would get all those components and fly 5KM right away. ;)
If I spend 20.00 extra that will give me some head room to go farther. I would spend that 20.00 extra (not 200.) Instead of have to spend another 100 to start over to go farther. :)

the problem is that only 25mW is allowed here.. don't know how far that would get me with a good picture without interference..

Remember Kilrah 's 20 mW Tx in the making? that we all 'begged for'? viewtopic.php?f=50&t=496&start=30

that's what I am waiting for too. ;)

Well..

Here's a little flight I did this morning, at 2:00 in I go for a tour at about 500m from me, the furthest point being 600m at 2:45. This is all with a stock omni on the receiver.

If you get bored, it's here at 5x speed :D

The TX antenna is a rather dirty dipole I made, but I have more tests to do to see if I can still improve...

nice, are you sure that was 600m?? :P

Ok, then 300 safely.. and that with stock antennas?? wow.. 20mW?? wow.. can you post a link where we can see the price?? I still have to save for it cos it's a bit difficult at the moment. but it's enough for what I want.. the easystar might be a little to big for it.. but I have a little mpx pico cub modded with ailerons that I could try.. just need to install a brushless motor in it.. it's on my plans anyway.. ;) :)

That would be about just right for me. :) My goggle still in BK and still have not secured a DX4E yet. Looks like you have bought up all the DX4e. that little Tx is mainly for the little guy, SBach. ;)

this info may help people interested in FPV.

The mini TX won't be there before a few weeks, as I need to wait until I do a new order from the manufacturer. I have some in stock, but with my european frequency set...

As a recorder I usually use an old DV camcorder with analog input (Canon MV850i) when I want best quality. When I just want an easy to carry solution but with a small hit on quality (still very decent - the 600m video of the Sbach I posted was recorded with it) I use this (well, my version of it also with the european frequencies):
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... h_DVR.html

It has an integrated receiver, so it's very convenient for example to frame cameras and stuff on the bench. Range is significantly shorter than the RC305 though, so for recording I connect the RC305 to the AV IN plug of the recorder.

One thing, don't hope to fly FPV looking at the screen AND recording at the same time. It's one or the other, as during recording the framerate of the live display is significantly reduced.
From: Kilrah
To: kaos
No it's not common at all for camcorders to have video in, actually nowadays none have that anymore. Need to use old models you can sometimes find 2nd hand.

However the HK recorder IS on the right frequencies for the RC305 / 200mW stuff! It comes from the same manufacturer...
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... h_DVR.html
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... x_Set.html

What I said is that the receiver sensitivity is kind of lower, so range is only good for testing.

Hmm this conversation should rather happen on the forum, might serve others..
I also found one can go along with rc305 which has higher resolution for recording, I confirmed with seller it does has A/V in jack and can record any out side source:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/130638022974?ss ... 1438.l2649

rather pricy though.

OK, received my RC305 Rx and the 200mW Tx. funny thing is according to the 2 little 'pages' 'manaul', the 8ch on RC305 and the 8ch on the Tx are different frequencies. There is no matching freuency in any of the 8 chs according to the manual. Any insight?

Also received my Frysky DJT module and Rx with the directional boost antenna. Looks nice.

3rd item received is the 600 TVL ccd camera with 3.6 mm / 6 mm lens. BUT , they send out a wrong plug (6 pin plug intsead of 5 pin pug). Sent me an email told me how to mod the plug to fit the connector on the CCD board. What a vendor. Ask them to send me a properly wired plug/connector. they say they are going to send me a couple plugs only for me to convert it myself. :-S

Looks like I am not going to get an image any time soon. :-S

You got a manual? From HK? Surprising! :D
Must be wrong enough to just be good for the bin ;)

More seriuously, what does it say about the channels exactly?

OK, on the RC305 Rx, it only gives you how to set each ch with dip switch position(no individual ch frequency) and it says "Receiving frequency: 5725-5865 MHz. 8 channels"

for the Tx, it actually gives you a break down of the ch:
ch1:5705
ch2:5685
ch3:5665
ch4:5645
ch5:5885
ch6:5905
ch7:5925
ch8:5945 yep, they don't even increase in the ch number order. ch1-4 decrease, ch5-ch8 increase. :-S
IF both are correct, the frequency don't even match between Rx and Tx. The Rx frequency fall in between of the tx ch4,5. no matching frequency.

Also, for tx, the operating voltage is 7-15 V, typical 12V. that is fine. But for RC305 Rx, it says power supply voltage: 6.5-12V. Can I use a fully charged 3S lipo with it then?

I wouldn't worry. Plug a camera, power up, and see if it works. It should with the DIP switches left at their default positions.
The TX channels are the real ones. the 5725-5865 range is the license-free ISM band my equipment works in, but that's not what HK supply. Soo... HK most likely mixed up the docs.

No problem with a 3s lipo on either side.

Finally found a DVR for FPV recording on the ground that is more reasonably priced and useful as a monitor. the built in camera resolution is not very good, only 640x480 but it can record 720 resolution from external source. Picked it up at Infinity hobby.
http://www.infinity-hobby.com/main/prod ... ts_id=5553

the 4.3" screen is very clear, you can actually mount this thing on the Tx to do FPV without goggle. :) Thin and fairly light weight.

My goggle and the Floater jet is now over the pacific now. :)

Kilrah:
did you build your Floater with wings glued to the body or removable for transportation?
I see HK review there are people made it removable for transportation but obviously some of the removable wings came apart during fly.
I like the wing to be removable for easier transportation. But want a reliable way to do it.

My first one had them removeable, but on the new one i've glued them.
When you plug/remove them a few times everything gets sloppy, so you start having to put tape to hold them in place, and then you don't remove them anymore because it's a pain to put/remove the tape everytime...

are they a bit like the easystar wings?
I've put some tape on the wings so they fit a little bit tighter, but they never came off.. I guess the floater will be a similar construction..

Different plane though

They have sort of a puzzle-like shape between them that "snaps" together, works pretty well actually.
The wings were holding fairly well together, I wouldnt worry about that. But they were moving a bit in the fuselage slot after some time, so as it's not big anyway and I wasn't usually taking it apart I glued everything, so no worries at all anymore.

yep, I figure it is better to glue it too. especially the CF rod, when removable, I just don't see that rod is supporting the wing very well.
now I have to figure out how to put all that FPV, OSD boards, pan and tilt cam in there. this is not a very big plane. May have to cut a hole in the belly to place all those in.
what did you do with those extra boards? Floater jet does not have a large compartment in the batt tray area. The Nova OSD alone has 4 boards to put in, plus the FPV tx and the pan and tilt swivel.
Looking for ideas.

OK. got the Floater ready to maiden last night. Of course, wake up in the morning, too gusty for a maiden.
My OSD Nova cyclop is a DOA, communicating with seller to see what he will do.
my 600 TV ln ccd works great but 38x38 is way too big for the Floater.
So another 520 ln weighing 2 g is on the way: http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/107535325.html
FPV/Tx/Rx goggle all works well.

Here is some mod I made to the Floater:
Attachments
120527-6.jpg
Here is the RTM (ready to maiden) Floater.
I also ordered a 6x4 prop to check it out. heard it gives the float great climb rate. I did separate the AILs, and prgram them with slow down flaps. :)
120527-2.jpg
also read from HK, the weak point in Floater is the nose, so I filled with 'GReat Stuff' foam. now this part will be the last place to break. :)
120527-5.jpg
Floater is kind of small, decide to gut the belly to put everything in there, much eaiser.
120527-8.jpg
How do you like my antenna arrangement?
120527-7.jpg
decide not to use the DSMX, read from HK, some people lost signal with DSMX with their FPV. Instead using the FrSky Tx module and rx. with flaperon and head tracker for pan and tilt cam , I will need at least 7 ch any way. the DSMX module I have only has 6 ch.

internal set up? you mean programming? not much to it just an adjustable flaperon with slow down and snap back.

No - the physical setup inside the AXN ... where/how you placed the various extra pieces for the OSD etc.
