OpenTX - Nightly builds for pre-2.0 testing

openTx has introduced a range of new features, ideas and bling. It is fast becoming the firmware of choice for many users. openTx will run on ALL current hardware platforms, including the gruvin9x and sky9x boards. Work has already started to support the new FrSky X9D radio!

I do not personally use this feature (yet), but have seen several posts on other forums where people looking at V1.99 have asked what happened to it so obviously people use it. Also my Futaba has it for sure, would have to look at my Hitec and Spektrum to see if they have it. In any case it doesn't make sense to me to remove a feature that already exists, especially one that other radios have had for years and people have come to expect.

Bertrand,
About issue 670, you added some parameters on the telemety panel to let the user defines the vario tones.
It is OK and I presume it will be in release 2.0.
Still, I do not see those parameters in companion9X.
Is this normal?

Will the toggle Switch function "Sxt" stay in OpenTX 2?

In the last Beta Version I miss it.

It's done differently, there is a new custom switch type "Sticky" that will do that job. So LS1 Stcky SA- SA- will do the equivalent of SA-t, with the advantage of being available everywhere instead of only in custom functions like before. There is no automatic conversion.

Several issues have been fixed, a new companion installer posted so those who are up for testing excitement can try to break it again :)

Firmware will be auto-generated in a few hours. It will include the bootloader, so any newer version can then be flashed from the SD card (files need to be in a FIRMWARES directory). The bootloader is accessed by pressing the Rud and Ail trims inwards while powering on. Note that you can NOT flash old firmwares with it, only files from there on. USB access to the EEPROM and SD card are possible from within the bootloader (that will be the place to do it starting from now).

Wow, that are great news. Will forward testing all the new features as long as there is no irresponsible risk when testing, flashing and using. ..

As mentioned in the first post we recommend not to use it for flying yet. If you do, then thoroughly ground test that everything behaves as intended first. We don't expect any software lockups or crashes, but as you can see from the commit history there have been wrong (but consistent) behaviors in some cases.

That's what beta testing is for, we do our best to test our changes but there's always some combination of things that goes unnoticed but someone else will find in minutes.

One thing is sure is that you can't damage your radio by trying it, if you can make a backup of your eeprom then flash new FW you can always go back.

Do I have this correct?

We flash this new version of firmware using the old method.
....If this is correct can this be done with 1.52 or must it be done with 1.99....or either one?
In the future versions we can just put the new firmware in SD/FIRMWARES and turn on as above.

You can do it with any companion version, it just calls dfu-util in the exact same way.

Thank you.
I had tried earlier from 1.99 and had a DFU error code...
Don't know why and don't care if I can just get Firmware on my second Tx.

I have been working on getting the Swedish translation of OpenTX up to speed with the latest changes (there are multiple issues). I have flashed the Taranis using the boot loader at least 50 times tonight. No issues whatsoever this far. Super easy to switch between Roms.
The mass storage auto mounts every time on the Mint machine I have been using. This is most definitely not true for all mass storage devices.
Looking good!

Sorry Kilrah, i didn't get it with the new Sticky function.
Tried your command line in Logical Switches, but it didn't work.

Otherwise no worry, i can wait for the official release and updated manual.

An exemple of sticky switch. LS1 works as what we previously called "SA(up) Momentary Switch", the first time SA is at position SA(up) LS1 becomes ON, the next time SA is at position SA(up) LS1 becomes OFF

Hy,

why two Variables SAup and SAup for set/reset or toggle
or for RS-Flipflop? one for set, one for Reset?

And what is the "Edge" , what are the two parameters for?

There is one condition for SET and another for UNSET. It gives more flexibility. For example you can enable a function with a switch and disable it when another condition is reached (i.e. Altitude > 500m).

Now Edge. English is not my mother language, you will discuss the name here and give me your conclusion ;) BTW even in french I can't say which name I would choose as well.

LS1 is ON during one cycle if SA is up between 1.0s and 2.0s

This way you can have "moment switches" on short-press, middle-press, long-press and define the press durations yourself

Hy Bertrand,

ok now I see and its clear now:
Sticky: its a RS-Flip Flop with separate or same Input for Set and Reset
German:RSFF SA^ SB^

Edge: it is a single impuls or Puls with setting of Delay and Duration
German: Puls 3:0 2:0

Tim or Timer its a clock generator, or pulsgenerator
German: Takt 1:0 4:0

Think we will find a good english and german translation with only 4 chars

It is not quite delay and duration.
The two numbers define a "window" that the input has to be true for. If it is matched then the output is pulsed.

So if it is set up as 1:2 then the pulse will only be output if you pull the switch for between 1 and 2 seconds.
If you keep it pulled for less than 1 second or more than 2 seconds then nothing is output.

If you set it up as 1:0 then it will pulse if you hold it for anything longer than 1 second.

At least that is what I have figured out so far in playing with it .

I am slowly writing a wiki page for Lua scripts on OpenTX. It's here:
https://github.com/opentx/opentx/wiki/L ... -in-OpenTX

You will be able to download and run the classical snake game at the very end of the page ... in case you broke all your planes ;)

They are the positions of the new FrSky 6-position switches 1-3, if installed.

I've got to say how great I appreciate the Bootloader.
I had several days of .bin in the directory and wasn't sure of what to expect.
Boiotloader showed the list. I selected most recent and said go...and it works so very cleanly.

Thanks to Mike and the development tean for this great feature.
If FrSky adapts it, it will greatly decrease the intial ppain of many new users.

Thanks guys,
Dean

Tested bootloader, works great so far.
Discovered one slight issue when in usb mode on bootloader.
Do not unplug then turn off TX before usb has unmounted properly.
TX will stay in an on state.
To get out of this state battery needs to be removed or usb cable needs to be plugged in and then removed properly before trying to turn off.

Could you please define "before usb has unmounted properly", so I can reproduce the problem? Are you using windows, linux or MAC please?

Its before the USB displayed on lcd disapears when unplugging.
I just checked again and its the same as trying to turn off TX while usb is plugged in.
TX cannot be powered off when usb is plugged in.
