APM 2.6 FC and 9X radio mode switch

openTx has introduced a range of new features, ideas and bling. It is fast becoming the firmware of choice for many users. openTx will run on ALL current hardware platforms, including the gruvin9x and sky9x boards. Work has already started to support the new FrSky X9D radio!

APM 2.6 FC and 9X radio mode switch

Post by 1SQ »

I'm getting ready to order a APM 2.6 FC and been reading and watching videos about it.

How did you set up your switches to accommodate the 6 flight modes of this controller.

I read about using a 6 position switch to replace one of the pots in the 9x radio.

Has anyone use 2 switches to turn on the different flight modes and how did you set it up?

Thank you in advance.

Attached is a setup I was playing with a while ago. Haven't actually got an APM to test with and it's not exactly what you're after but it will show you how to setup the switch config.

It's also got 6 flight modes/phases setup, although that is dependent on your hardware so may not be an options for you

Are these settings done in a computer and up loaded to the 9x?

I will try those mix you sent me (channel5) and thanks.

Actually, I think I did that on the radio, but just pulled it out using companion and dropped it into a new file.

As I said, it's untested, but I did it based on a couple of other docs and blogs I found on the net so it should be pretty close. You can change the custom switches around so they are as you want

I use this solution: http://openrcforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=84&t=4010
Way more intuitive and practical, especially in stress-situations.

I use a 6pos rotary switch with led feedback and only 5 custom switch and 5 flight phases to show status on screen along with voice module to sound out the mode change setting. Works great.

How to setup a 6pos switch for 5 or six flight modes to replace rotary pot.

Configuration in ER9x or can also be translated to OpenTx

CS2: a<x PPM5 -20 AND CS1
CS3: |a|<x PPM5 20
CS4: a<x PPM5 60
CS5 a>x PPM5 20 AND CS4

Use !CS1 for one mode.
Use CS2 for the second.
Use CS3 for the third.
Use CS5 for the fourth.
Use !CS4 for the fifth.

Hope this helps...
