open9x and companion9x docs

openTx has introduced a range of new features, ideas and bling. It is fast becoming the firmware of choice for many users. openTx will run on ALL current hardware platforms, including the gruvin9x and sky9x boards. Work has already started to support the new FrSky X9D radio!

It's not, but that's been added to my todo list for the manual ;)
Here is a start for you. I filled out all I could. Some questions I still had so did not go there.

I intend to translate the manual for the Portuguese.
Is anybody doing this?
Can I start the translation?
I want to create a PDF file for download and printing.

The English translation hasn't really been started yet. It's currently only a copy of the French manual with just the first 2 paragraphs translated...

I may be in error her -- but a cursory look at the french version ...it seems to have more information that the English version and be more upto date.

IF this is the case -- the viewing with Chrome it will automatically translate to English .. although some of the translation is a bit dodgey . I will take a closer look when I'm not "on the clock".

The EN version is an exact copy of the FR version, but with the first couple of paragraphs translated.

Hello friend Scott!!
understand.
For me it would be easier if there was already a version in English.
But, in this case I will make use of "Google Translate", and start translation to Portuguese, using the manual in French.
I intend to incorporate your table "Custom Switches Options for V".,
I think that will be very helpful.

Once I get a better handle on open9x .... especially the telemetry area I'm going to contribute my considerable talent (joking) to rewrite parts of the English manual and add videos. I'm still on the learning cliff but I bet a belay from Bertrand, Mike, Rob and the others frequently.
I do understand FrSKY products in general - but the implementation is going to take some hand on I suspect because just staring at it is not working.

I should think the best option would be to 'simulate' in companion9x, then screen grab each view you want!
Slope Soaring, FPV, and pretty much anything 'high tech'
...........if you think it should be in the wiki.. ask me for wiki access, then go add it!

No, English only in C9X. You need to build the standalone simulator (on linux) to have the languages.

Hellow Friend!!
I'm no expert in LINUX, but I'm using the SIMU for translation in Portuguese, I'm sure it will not be difficult.

Start A Virtual Machine Installed. I use VMware Workstation

and then install Ubuntu 12.04

I would recommend a Fedora 16 or Fedora 17 inside the virtual machine, as it is the distrib we currently use for official packages. Mihlit (open9x commiter) is the official fedora maintainer for avr-gcc and prepare the packages for us!

Better fedora core 17 as no official updated avr-gcc exist for fedora core 16.

Hy,

ok I will install a linux system, ubuntu, fedora17, a shell, and then?
How does I get s simulation of open9x, companion9x, th9x with the German screen sets ?
and/or got a Screen dump than?

Why is it not possible to select in the Windows companion9x the Languages for Simulation the th9x
and got the "right" th9x screens?
Why only at a Lunix-system?

Or is it possible to got a komplett th9x screen set as JPG or PNG
because anyone must have tested it in open9x

The language is not loaded at runtime but compiled in statically.
So is not possible to change the language in the simu based on the companion preferences.
On the other side standalone fw simulator runs only on linux, as uses a library not available on win.

Helle,

Language of simulated FW can be changed, as I know, only in "simu" simulator under Linux, and only via the new translation of both FW and simulator.

If you want a brief guide to installing and commissioning the translation environment simulator, simulation, so there is (written by mhotar, it is originally in Czech, but Google translates it quite clearly):

http://translate.google.cz/translate?sl ... %23p870957

In the same way I made the images in the Czech version of the manual: http://open9x.googlecode.com/files/Open ... l%20CZ.pdf

Hi Helle,

thank you very much for the praise and especially for inspiring comments on the manual.
short info of Programmer Mod with Pictures can use my manuals from fpv-forum
short info of Backlight
short info about Companion9x
About these things, I thought, but then I intentionally left out because I would not describe adequately qualified and detail. Also the size of the manual would excessively increase.
Perhaps, it would be appropriate to give a couple of links to good tutorials on the internet.
A separate problem is Companion9x. There is, to my knowledge, absolutely no manual, just a few paragraphs in the new French manual.
Companion would certainly deserves a separate high quality manual.
Diagramm of the Menues similar the France one
but with Splash screen starting and
the 3 or 4 Submenües DR/Expo, Mixer, Flight Phase, Curves
I've wanted to do it a few times to let go, but it is very laborious and requires a graphical capabilities. Maybe I'll get into it when I have some time. Or does it (at least for English manual) someone else more qualified (it seems that it's a good way).
The complete list of Custom Switch option and Values
This I have already added to both manuals.

I will try to add this in manuals.

Hy, Zdenek.
here some info about using the Trainer input correct with open9x because its different to er9x!
Adapting of the students TX and aktivating the Student input PPM signal for the teachers Modell

Trainer Funktion aktivieren
Now, yes its simpel, I never thought about custom funktions!
Now I use the trainer switch TRN and can aktivate what I want with no influence of my ready trimmed modell
and no additional Mixer to use.

At Trainer Menü 2/6 I adapt the student input (German Lehr/Sch. 2/6) of the TX menüs,
off += := the same as at Mixers
% from -100 to0 to 100 negatvi is invers the input-channel
With Cal I can see the input signal of the Student and I can trimm the Students input.
With [MENU] I can use the aktivate trimms of the students

At Modell Menü, Custom Funktions 10/11 I aktivate, open or close a student channel
Custom funktions 10/11 (German: Spez. Funktionen 10/11)
Beispiel individuell each channel open or close
---
TRN Lehrsch. Gas on/off Symbol to aktivate
TRN Lehrsch. QuR on/off Symbol to aktivate
TRN Lehrsch. HöR on/off Symbol to aktivate
TRN Lehrsch. StR on/off Symbol to aktivate
---
Beispiel or all 4 channels together open or close
---
TRN Lehrsch. on/off Symbol to aktivate
---

And I have tested it with 4 Channel PPM signal level of about 4V Input in positiv and negativ PPM and all works fine

Just a little comment while I have it in the top of my head: someone opened an issue saying we are still describing the input filters (single / filtered / oversampled) in the wiki/docs. I think that this chapter may be removed, the function has been reworked some months ago, thanks!

I have compiled a German simulator and then I shot the screens. Probably not complete (at least I know about editing curves). If it will be usefull for you, I'll try to finish another screenshots sometime during the week.
