Setting up Serial Communications with Tx Module

openTx has introduced a range of new features, ideas and bling. It is fast becoming the firmware of choice for many users. openTx will run on ALL current hardware platforms, including the gruvin9x and sky9x boards. Work has already started to support the new FrSky X9D radio!

Setting up Serial Communications with Tx Module

Post by Rtbcoop »

I recently ordered a multiprotocol Tx and am trying to set my controller up for when it arrives. I have loaded version 2.2.1 on my Turnigy 9x with m128 board but I cannot find where to switch between PPM and serial communication with the Tx module. The multimodule website (https://github.com/pascallanger/DIY-Mul ... mitters.md) states that this should work with a 9x and openTx but I cannot find the setting anywhere. Any help? Thanks!

As the table on that link shows with a 9x your only option is er9x.

I do not have that option. I was digging deeper into the multiprotocol page and it states that serial communication is only supported by er9x firmware for the Turnigy 9x (https://github.com/pascallanger/DIY-Mul ... skyTH9X.md). I thought I had read that it was available through openTx too but I guess I was mistaken.

See above. I guess that I will have to switch firmware. Thanks for the help!

@LapinFou LapinFou Update Tx-FlyskyTH9X.md

Since then OpenTX has added support...

BUT.... you are off-course 100% correct :) m128 does not have the build option in companion....
Apologies:)

OpenTX as far as I know, doesn't have multiprotocol serial support on the stock 9x mainboard, and that is what the multiprotocol site states.
If you want to use it with openTX on a stock 9x radio, you will have to use PPM, and configure it with the module's multi position switch..
