Web Manual http://rcdiy.ca
I have published an OpenTX Manual with help from the developers and community members. This manual is frequently updated especially if an error is reported.

The table of contents provide a way to quickly access documentation related to specific transmitter screen.

The OpenTX manual is searchable by using the search tool on the right hand side of the screen.

Based on community feedback I will be adding videos and updating the manual. As OpenTX changes I will update the manual and remove out of date information.

Printed Manual https://alofthobbies.com/radio/tx-gear/ ... nuals.html
Aloft Hobbies has a printed manual that may be purchased. A portion of the sales are donated to the OpenTX developers.

GitBook Manual https://www.open-tx.org
The developers have published a manual using GitBooks.

PDF Manual http://openrcforums.com/forum/viewtopic ... 45&t=10905
This manual has separate PDF files for each section of the manual.

Please post feedback below!

A full downloadable manual is now available in a different section of this forum:

I've added this to the first post.

Picking up from some posts on RCG, I'm not sure if this should be in the openTx manual, but it might be useful to include it.
When opening the Taranis Plus case, particularly if the ribbon cables need to be disconnected, then disconnect the main battery first. Otherwise, when plugging the ribbon cables back in, it is easy to connect battery voltage to the processor, thus destroying it. This happened to me on a prototype Taranis Plus, and has happened to others since.

Thanks Mike. In order to reduce the verbosity of the manual I'm sticking as much as possible to OpenTX related content. You suggestion while useful would fall under a Tx modification in my arbitrary opinion :)

Damn arbitrary. Your reply makes no sense. I might need to open the radio to replace the rtc battery, or adjust gimbal ratchet. Some people might want to remove the ribbon to make the procedure more confortable. There is a lot of stuff you might need to do and it's not necessarily a mod. Imo

Edit: a warning wouldn't do any harm.

Exactly. My goal was an OpenTX manual not a radio manual. As you correctly pointed out there is a lot of stuff people may want to do to their radios so if its not OpenTX I'll probably not include it.

There are other more general Transmitter manuals/resources which could include that information.<br/>

If I want to try an keep the online manual updated with changes as openTX changes, with corrections that are pointed out or additions requested (OpenTX specific) then I need to draw a line somewhere.

What I've observed is that lots of resources exist and a lot of energy gets put into the creation but then keeping it updated and correct often gets ignored over time.

Keep in mind the first post has a number of OpenTX manuals/resorces listed. The only one I update the the online manual at rcdiy.ca

You open your radio and disconnect the ribbon without removing the battery, and your radio will probably be toast.. This is not a mod, this is about alerting people to the fact that they can destroy their ORIGINAL, UNMODDED radio while doing normal maintenance.. :o
We have seen a few processors destroyed already because of this problem. I feel even like calling it a design flaw. I believe this should have been tested, found, and dealt with before the radio was released.

A line or two about this in the manual could prevent people from toasting their radios..

If I add a hardware section then I will. The manual at RCdiy.ca does not have a hardware section (see table of contents on the home page). There are guides linked to down the side of the web page; Thats were I could add it when I do a hardware guide. I guess I need to do a guide for each FrSKY Tx since I'm sure each one has their own warnings that would be nice to have.

May be its my technical background and someone told me at some point but whenever I open anything I unplug from the wall and or remove batteries. To me that basic DIY 101.

So, yes, I'll add that warning when I have an appropriate place to put it. I am open to putting it in now if you could point out exactly where (a link to the page).

Is this correct.
EU build option.

eu - Removes D8 and LR12 Frsky protocols that are illegal in Europe after Jan 1st, 2015
Note: For FrSKY transmitters the XJT module also needs to be flashed with its EU firmware to be EU compliant. FrSKY receivers will also need to be flashed with their EU firmware. This is usually only required for purchases made from stores not within the EU. If you are in the EU and have binding trouble then the likely solution is to ensure both the XJT module and receivers have the latest EU firmware. EU firmware files will have either EU or LBT in their file names. E.g. XJT_EU170317.frk

LR12 is legal I guess. Only D8 is removed in OpenTX EU.
