Quick question about Frsky telemetry

openTx has introduced a range of new features, ideas and bling. It is fast becoming the firmware of choice for many users. openTx will run on ALL current hardware platforms, including the gruvin9x and sky9x boards. Work has already started to support the new FrSky X9D radio!

Quick question about Frsky telemetry

Post by lukaaasz »

Hello,

My set:
- 9XR PRO
- FrSky DJT + D8R2+
- DJT internal telemetry mod:
Image

On stock firmware: ersky9xr_rom_r212.bin I have all telemetry readings (TSSI, RSSI, etc.)

I flashed: opentx-9xrpro-en.2.0.20.bin and I don't have telemetry readings. I tried to change Type from FrSkt S.SPORT to FrSky D and still nothing.

When I use dedicated FrSky telemetry cable and set FrSky D(cable) i have telemetry readings but I would like to work with telemetry without external cables like on stock ersky9xr firmware.

Could You tell me what is wrong?

Greetings,
Ł.

I don't use openTX but you could try to check if you can select COM1 as the telemetry COM port.

I have just simulated openTX for the 9XR-PRO in companion's radio simulator and I couldn't find any setting to change the telemetry COM port, so I guess you are pretty much stuck with the telemetry cable, or change back to Ersky9x. I bet you didn't try the latest versions. You can download the latest release version of Ersky9x here if you decide to give it a try..

version 212 is really old. Ersky9x improved a lot since then, and has great new features. :)

You have Polish language in Ersky9x. You would need the latest version as I said. :) You would just have to create your voice pack for ersky9x..
There is a very good tool for that. Search for "TTSautomate"

But of course, it is your decision. then you will have to stick with the telemetry cable I think :)
Unless some developer implements changing telemetry COM ports of course..

As I remember on my older 9XR PRO 1 or 2y ago I had working frsky telemetry with opentx. Maybe it is related with telemetry COM port? I dont know :(

You were probably using the telemetry cable then..

Well, then someone from the OpenTX team will have to let you know why it stopped working then. I don't see any setting where you can select the COM port number.

Strange thing, I flashed ersky9x for 9XR-PRO v220. I have working telemetry without external cable. I have all readings from vario. PL lang. I use for test template simple 4CH and plugged servos to 1-4 CH and my servos dont work. I checked on 2nd receiver (d8r2+) and the same situation. I back to opentx and everything is ok except telemetry with external cable.

Could You tell me what I am doing wrong with ersky?

Go to Model Setup / protocol menu in Ersky9x and check your external module is set to PPM..

Thank You. I was in that place but I didnt check the checkbox and I didnt see options...

I hope it is my last question regarding Ersky9x. After (every time) TX reebot I dont have telemetry readings. I need to change some options in telemetry or change profile to see the readings.

My settings in telemetry:
UsrProto: FrSky
FrSky Com Port: 1
Invert COM 1: unchecked
COM 2 Func.: Telemetry
Com 2 Baundrate: AUTO
COM 1 Baundrate: AUTO

Go to Radio Setup and set the date and time. If the timer still doesn't run, you will have to open the radio and replace the RTC (real time clock) battery, which is a button battery mounter vertically inside the radio. If the date and time works please check your settings are now saved.
This should fix the problem.

Good, have a look around and make sure all is working :)

Let explain why you had that "Protocol" problem" that is not a problem at all, but a feature. In all Ersky9x supported radios it is possible to also install an RF module internally and although in the PRO there isn't much space for it, it could probably be done :)

Perhaps the OpenTX team can try to find why COM2 is not working and fix it.. :)
