New 2.2 sound pack with old system voices

openTx has introduced a range of new features, ideas and bling. It is fast becoming the firmware of choice for many users. openTx will run on ALL current hardware platforms, including the gruvin9x and sky9x boards. Work has already started to support the new FrSky X9D radio!

New 2.2 sound pack with old system voices

Post by BenZoFly »

Hi all,

I just moved to OpenTX 2.2 night builds and went to the field to test a new plane. On my Taranis (oldest model) the new sounds (tried v0008 in English and French) are just like noise. It is in no way understandable as were the old sound packs (all up to 2.1). I liked the original voice pack, a bit less the 2.1 (voice was a bit faster and less clear), but not at all the 2.2 pack.

I was wondering if anyone is working on building a sound pack for 2.2 that would retrofit the old, clear voices?

If yes, I would be delighted to get to download it :)

Thank you very very much.
Cheers,
B.

Not sure which you're referring to - the autogenerated voices we supply come from the same program as before.
You were probably using one of the user-created packs.

Hi

I downloaded this file:
http://downloads.open-tx.org/2.2/nightl ... 2V0008.zip

and I can guarantee that this is not the same result on the Taranis X9D (not the Plus version, but the old version).

In 2.1 voice was crisp and high.
In 2.2 voice is low tone and saturated.

I've attached a sample of both sound packs.

That's what I'm saying, the pack you were using on 2.1 wasn't the generic OpenTX one, it was a user-supplied one.

ok now I understand. I was indeed complementing the official "English" voice pack with one called "English - Amber" that was made available for 2.1. I actually never tried the American voice pack, and I believe that's the one provided in the voice pack 2.2 as "en".

That explain. Still, in version 2.1 there was already this difference between the British version, high and clear and the US one lower and more computer-like. Will there be an official "British" pack for the 2.2 ?

I just created an alternative pack in English based on the "Amber" voice pack from 2.1. It still has a bit of original Taranis voices and a bit of 2.2 American voice for those sounds that do not exist in the original Amber pack. It also contains a few additional sounds that I use in my plane template published on this site.

Enjoy,
B.
