Hi all,
I am the happy owner of the recent AR9X bord from Flygear to make the Turnigy 9X "almost" ended than the Taranis and have some questions/suggestions about the OpenTx support of this board.
I am currently using Opentx 2.1.8 with XJT external module + X8R + 3 SP sensors (Vario HP/GPS V2/FLVSS). So far all is working nicely and it is great that the OpenTx team is developing it considering this great board.
1/ Real Time Clock is supported by the AR9X board while Opentx does not for it (Kilrah implied on RCGroups that someone is working on it). However the GPS sensor is handling the Datetime data which can be logged. Then I am wondering if we can synchronise the date of the radio with the one of the GPS sensor. This option seams to exist for the Taranis but not for the AR9X, why ?
2/ Volume control by pots: when we can expect an OpenTx support with this board ? The T9x is supplied with 3 pots that would do that easily.
3/ On the Taranis' version of firmware there is an option on the Telemetry page to customise the "top bar" of the screen, that does not exist for the AR9X version. Just wondering why because THERE is also a top bar (+a bottom one) on the T9X telemetry's page.
4/ Small bugs:
*On the telemetry setup screen, the vario limits are displayed +Max +min -min -Max. Each is two digits from 0,1 to 17 but the -Max value only displays the first digit, then when I decrease under 1, I don't see the value anymore. It should be moved a bit to the left.
** Still about the vario setup. The option "Neutral silent" on Companion does not do anything when selected once in the radio. I should enslave the Vario sound to a logical switch, like with 2.0 versions.
Btw. I plan to open a dedicated thread on the french forum modélisme.com to promote this board that seams not to be so known here. I am wondering if other frenches are using it.
Thanks for your help.
Vianney

Re: AR9X Board with OpenTx 2.1.X
I have a couple Ar9x boards but I run ErSky9x on them, not openTX. So, I guess I'm not of a great help

Re: AR9X Board with OpenTx 2.1.X
1) and 2) will be in OpenTX 2.2.
https://github.com/opentx/opentx/pull/3555
https://github.com/opentx/opentx/pull/3556
3) Top bar refers to the home screen grey bar on Taranis. Small screen platforms do not have it. Telemetry screen top bar is hardcoded, and bottom one is part of custom screen settings.
4) Might want to open an issue on github with details.

Thanks very much Kilrah. This is a very helpful answer. I will go to Github for the bugs.Kilrah wrote:1) and 2) will be in OpenTX 2.2.

Re: AR9X Board with OpenTx 2.1.X
Dears,
i am planning to use ARUni (AR9X in small form factor) with opentx to convert an old Futaba tx, so i would like to test some common mods done like:
1. 6 position rotary encoder for flight modes
2. Add sliders
3. 7 way wheel navigation encoder
So is it possible? Are these mods possible with OpenTx firmware, or at least are there provisions to make them possible in a future release? What about speechs?

kbadra,
The best is to ask on the dedicated thread on RCGroups: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2570260
Good luck.

Re: AR9X Board with OpenTx 2.X
Hi all,
1/ Looking for the support of additional EXT1/2/3 hardware inputs by OpenTx on this platform ? (To add more switches to the radio)
2/ Looking for a persistent flight hours counter for each model. For instance: the last flight duration, and the total flight duration. Is it still available by a special func ? Not able to find...
Thanks for your support.

Re: AR9X Board with OpenTx 2.X
1) Nobody ever worked on that. Contributions welcome.
2) You can do that with the 3 model timers.

Re: AR9X Board with OpenTx 2.X
Thank you Kilrah, unfortunately for the first I am not skilled in software programming. Is it possible to copy/paste the code from Er9x to OpenTx ? Who is in charge of developing the OpenTx section linked with AR9X ?Kilrah wrote:1) Nobody ever worked on that. Contributions welcome.

For the second question, OpenTx has still some secret for me, this is a good news.
