What did you do just before that happened?
Did you flash the radio firmware?

Do you have a voltmeter? If so, we should be able to locate the problem.

Jhsa, yes I just tried to flash the module, it failed and the error message blinked by to fast to find out why it failed. I then turned of the radio to so I could unplug the module, then tried turning the radio back on and only the blue ready light came on very dim... I had that happen to me once yesterday and I jsut unplugged the battery and plugged it back in and every thing worked...

Mike, yes I do have a DVOM. Its a lot more sophisticated than I am lol.. so lets start..

Does your radio speak or beep when you turn it on?

No jhsa, just a dull blue light, i think I let my battery get to low.. I am still learning all this new technology... first time computer radio, first time using LiPos, and first time messing with firmware that wasn't supposed to be messed with, and newish to flying in general.

Ok, you bwill have to open it. First thing, with power OFF, measure the resistance of R9. You should expect a very low resistance like 0.1 ohm or so.. R9 is located on the small board where the module bay pins are.. Not sure on which side though.. Please remove the battery before you do this..

It should read 0.1 ohm, if you are reading 2K ohm then it is broken.. Can you bridge it and try the radio again? be careful not to touch anything else with the soldering iron..
R9 is a current sensor for the radio.. You will lose the current reading. Not so important anyway.

Mike, when I try and flash the Module, the failure code flashes by so fast I can't see the code generated... is there a place to pull stored error codes, or does the radio even store error codes for this kind of function?

Error: all zeros

as far as I can tell... the Error message flashes by so fast I can only make out the first 4 and last 4 but it looks as though they are all 0's

Did you flash the radio with the test version to which I linked? The error codes should remain on the display with the "Failed" message with that firmware.

yes mike I did.. current Bootloader s V2.1, and running ersky9xr_rom_R221.bin

which protocol do I want to be flashing with? Multiprotocol_V1.1.5_OrangeTX.bin or MultiOrange.bin? I have been trying both.

Hey Mike check out my other thread

Is that version that is reported in the "Version" display?
If the numbers at the bottom of the XMEGA flashing display disappear when you get to "Failed", please get the "a7" test version I posted earlier today (from the same place).
I'm afraid that if you reversed the power connection to the module you will very likely have damaged it.

I don't know if my radio is flashing or not... put the file ersky9xr_rom.bin into the firmware folder of the SD Card, turned the controller on with both rudder and aileron trims IN to the middle, selected said file long menu hold held Menu for yes says flashing with a box showing that the firmware is flashing then get message "Flashing Complete" . Then I reboot the radio go to the menu and select "Version"

Version
VERS: V. 1760-Mike
Date: 04.12.2016
Time: 10:18:39
SVN: ersky9x-r220
MOD: REVB-X

when I flash the Module I am still getting a fast screen with all 0's for less than a second and a message saying Flash Failed

That is the correct method (or one of them anyway). The version is not the one in the file "ersky9xProvR221a7.zip", which should have a date of 08.02.2017 on the version display.
Did you download that file and extract the ersky9xr_rom.bin file from it to put on the SD card?
Maybe when you have extracted the file, rename it to ersky9xr_roma7.bin, before you put it on the SD card, then you know you have the correct file.

Let's get this version of ersky9x flashed, then try to flash the module again.

yes jhsa... after flash of the Tx, I turn off the Tx then turn it back on holding the horizontal trims away from each other... and it boots as if I am not holding anything... If I turn the Tx back off, and hold the horizontal trims in toward each other I can get the place where I upgrade the Tx Firmware.

Curiously, it looks to me as though the left horizontal trim is operating in the wrong direction. With the "a7" firmware, please go to the "DIAGSWTCH" screen and check that when you press the right side of the left trim switch, the 0 in the + (right) column changes to a 1.
