Crow brakes

Post by Soco »

Hi, i'm in need of some help.

I have a Turnigy 9xr with the er9x firmware.
I want to create crow brakes that I can operate from the throttle stick.
Is it possible to have the stick fully down when no crow brakes and a gradual crow as the stick is pushed up.

Have you updated the firmware from the original that was shipped with the 9XR, if so, which revision are you running?

Yes you can have crow brakes as you describe. I assume you have a "4 servo" wing, with 1 servo on each aileron and 1 on each flap.
I also assume you want the ailerons to go up and the flaps to go down as you move the throttle stick.

What you basically need is to add a mix to each of the 4 channels, something like:
50% Thr Offset(50%)
Depending on how recent the revision of er9x is, the offset value may need to be 100% as I changed the way offset is handled (controlled by the "Fix Offset" option that now defaults to ON).
Change the weight to -50% if a control surface moves the wrong way.

Mike thanks for that although unfortunately I still dont fully understand.

Yes I have updated the firmware ver.276,
Is it possible to set it out in eepe so that I can simulate it to fully understand what is happening

Very grateful for your comments

Mike
Have been successful in getting crow brakes to work now, just one small query, is it normal for the flaps to operate the same as ailerons when just operating the ailerons, if not how do I stop this happening?

If the flaps move with the ailerons, when just moving the aileron stick, then you must have a mix on the flap channels to make this happen.

Mike
Hope you can help with regards to previous posts about crow brakes. Although I thought I had sorted it out at the time I was only using one wing, therefore 2 servos. As soon as I have included connections to the other wing the sevos operate on their own jittering and moving in different directions.

Is it possible you can advise me.

Many thanks Soco

First step is to plug a couple of servos into the Rx directly and see what they do.

Mike
Have just attached 4 separate servos and things seem ok, so I can only assume that one of the servos in the wings is faulty.
Hopefully I will now be able to work out how to get crow to work correctly. The videos by Richard Mrazek I have found to be very useful.
