Elevator and Throttle Trim Tabs Reversed!

Post by Cburg »

Hi Group,

My trim tabs for elevator and throttle are swapped. Strange! When I push the elevator trim tab up, my motor starts!

Thanks!

Because for trimming the main stick (e.g. aileron and elevator in mode 2) you don't have to leave the stick alone for trimming.
Very nice while flying a (paddel-)heli!!!

Imagine that you fly mode 2 (elevator and aileron on the right) and you have an airplane with a reeeaaally bad behavior on it's first flight, and it needs a lot of trimming. If you move the aileron and elevator trims to the other side, you don't have to take your right hand from the controls to trim it.. Just use your left hand, cool.. ;) :D

Some people use it all the time.. Actually I might get used to it and start using it myself as I think it is much better not having to let go of the controls.. I need to get used to it on the sim first :)

You want another one?
Throttle reverse. Full throttle is with the stick completely back. Who the keck would use that? Well ask the heli guys

Elevator and Throttle Trim Tabs Reversed!

Post by Daedalus66 »

Cross trim used to be very popular among serious flyers but seems to have fallen out of favor with the rise of computer radios in the 1990s. It has great advantages for mode 2 flyers, less for mode 1.

Regarding odd setups, my JR 783 from 1996 has a switch for flying a heli inverted. The idea was that just as you flipped the heli, you flipped the switch, so the heli would fly the same upside down. I never tried it but people who did said it was fine when flying inverted but the transition was very challenging!

Back in the 1940s when control line was a big thing, someone had a similar idea and had two handles side by side, one with the lines crossed to reverse control. The idea was that to fly inverted you switched handles. Again, the challenge was in the transition! People just learned to fly inverted.

I regularly use crosstrim on some machines, and know several people who do.

I use it all the time, all models.
Don't want to miss it!

I think it's a good idea (for electric motors) to disable throttle trim!
