Help needed in understanding channel mixing
Help needed in understanding channel mixing
I currently use the 3-position F. MODE switch to switch between three flight modes. I need to program the AIL D/R switch so that I can program all 6 flight modes supported by my Y6 copter APM. There is a link in DIY DRONES (http://diydrones.com/profiles/blogs/mod ... or-turnigy) forum that shows how to do it. However, as I add a new mix, this appears to affect the previous. Is there a formula that can be used when creating the mixes (weight, offset, trim, etc.)??? I'm new to this so I'm having a hard time understanding. So far, all information I've found including the ER9X manual assumes some level of experience. I wonder if there is any documentation out there that can help me understand the channel mixing parameters.
Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

Re: Help needed in understanding channel mixing
Which of the firmwares are you currently using?
possibly the main thing you are missing is that each mix has a "multiplex" option. The default is ADD, but you also have REPLACE and MULTIPLY.
A REPLACE mix does just that, replaces all mixes before it on its channel, this is probably what you need.

Re: Help needed in understanding channel mixing
I'm using:
SVN: er9x-r803
VERS: V1.1481-Mike
DATE: 07.08.2013
I'll try changing the Multpx to REPLACE instead of ADD. Thanks.

How does one delete a MIX - as I sem to have created on Chan9 about 6 sub lines which all say += or :=...
It must be something simple... but the manuals in French and even after translation I cant see it in there. Please help

Re: Help needed in understanding channel mixing
Do you have eepe on your PC?
If so, please read your EEPROM using eepe and post the file here. "+=" and ":=" should only appear on the trainer menu so something seems wrong. THere may be a bug asthere were a number of significant changes in this revision.
If you have eepe, you should find a .pdf of the manual in that directory.

Mike,
Sorry but I think I replied to the wrong post. I originally created this thread but it appears someone else replied asking another question to which you asked for the firmware version. I thought you were asking me but I can see now that you were asking truthseekers. Please disregard my comments.

Re: Help needed in understanding channel mixing
Tiger215: Couple of things in your mixes anyway.
What do you want on channel 3 output? You have a mix offset of +120% and a sub-trim (offset in limits menu) of -100%. These are opposites and have a curious effect on the output.
Secondly, you appear to be using channel 5 for flaps (or something similar). You can achieve the same effect your 3 mixes are giving by using 3POS as the source, then setting your required output positions in the limit menu, min of -100%, offset of -34%, max of -8%. Just one mix and some limits.

Re: Help needed in understanding channel mixing
Thanks Mike.
The settings in the file are from what I was given by 3D Robotics for the Y6 copter I purchased from them. It is the mixes and limits that I am trying to understand. CH5 is used for the Flight Mode and it uses a 3-Position switch on my ER9X radio. The current settings allow me to select the first three Flight Modes. I eventually need to program all 6 Flight Modes. For this I need to use a second 2-Position switch (AIL D/R) and add mixes for it. What I don't understand is the WEIGHT and OFFSET values in the MIXES menu and the effect they have on the output PWM. Also, when you have multiple mixes on one channel it adds another effect on the output. I need to understand these parameters in order to know what mixes and what parameter values (WEIGHT and OFFSET) need to be added to support 6 Flight Modes using the 3-position and 2-position switches.
Thanks.

Have you watched any of the four video guides for er9x?

Right side of the forum pages, fourth item down - "Video Guides". Click on it, then scroll down to er9x.
