Taranis cannot connect to PC
Hi Folks
You helped me out last year with the er9x problems
I have just bought a Taranis and I am trying to set it up so I can see it with eePe or companion9x. Using both I get an error “Cannot see device”
Running 64bit windows 7
When I plug the Taranis in, windows finds the new device and I can see and open it in Explorer. It sees one file taranis.bin
Looking at yours and other help sites say to look in Device Manager.
It is there as “USB Mass Storage Device” NOT “STM32 BOOT LOADER”
I downloaded the Taranis Driver from
https://code.google.com/p/companion9x/d ... p&can=2&q=
When I tried to update to this driver, Windows says the one installed is the best for the job, so would not.
Can you offer any other advice?
Cheers
John

Re: Taranis cannot connect to PC
First off, with a new Tx, you won't have the (new) firmware bootloader. THis means there are two ways of connecting.
1. Power on the Tx, then connect the USB, this will give you a mass storage device.
2. Keep the Tx switched off, and plug in the USB, this will give you the STM32 BOOT LOADER.
Mike.

What you want to see at that stage??? Take a look at the picture from open-tux.org.john27031953 wrote: rebooted but still no luck seeing the taranis wit power on or off
John, now you have the STM32 bootloader in usb device. That is OK.
You have access to the bootloader on the STM32 chip. That is fine!
Now follow the steps described here http://open-txu.org/home/undergraduate- ... companion/
Then flash the firmware. Next chapter.

Re: Taranis cannot connect to PC
You might have a bit of doc to read.
The firmware is downloaded from within companion (under Downloads...) after setting your radio type correctly.

Re: Taranis cannot connect to PC
John, I think, you should really take your time, no need to hustle around.
Best is you start reading opentx university from the beginning.
I had difficulties understanding the bootloader thing (retired mechanical engineer ) but that web page really helped! But you have to take your time and do step by step!
I can not write it here better than those guys behind opentx university, that is for sure...

Re: Taranis cannot connect to PC
Might be a good idea, you log in opentx university and write your comment about the missing basic configuration of opentx companion.
Does not help you, but the next one ....
