Mobile Version of Forum

Post by Rob Thomson »

Hello,

I have just installed a mobile skin for the forum. This is a much more touch friendly version that suits mobile devices.

It all does seem to be working - but as the software doing this is RC2 only, please let me know if any issues occur!

cool
is it automatic based on user agent ?

Will it bug me about tapatalk. i know it's only supposed to do it once. per domain. For me, a person using a mobile device without tapatalk, tapatalk is an annoying popup on every different forum I go to. I imagine it is a revenue sharing scheme . I haven't found a free tapatalk and cant imagine paying for it. sorry I digressed :)

Actually... just disabled as I found a bug that stops me replying to posts.

It is user agent based - actually really nice!

I will re-enable once I have fixed the bug.

Can't tell as I cannot get back on the mobile version as I disabled it earlier today Mike. Can the enable\disable link be enabled on both versions?

Hmmmm... My Linux-PC is definitely NOT mobile, neither is my user-agent ("Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:20.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/20.0").
Still I got the mobile theme when I came to the forum now...

Curious.

Simply use the option on the footers to change modes.

I will set my agent to the same and then fix!

also tried it from firefox.

looks like maybe there is some redirection going on and the paramaters mobile=on is being added to the url ??

http://openrcforums.com/forum/?mobile=on

note I havent tried clearing any cache , but I have closed and reopened the browser.

Plus with firefox it was the first time coming to the site since the mobile site was turned on.

With this I have tried both chrome & firefox. No problems!

I am thinking there is something else at play.

I am also running Ubuntu 12.04. I mostly use Chrome, I haven't had any problems either. I just tried Firefox, and again I get the full version of the page. So no problems here.
