Thanks for that HC1969. I did look at extensions like that. They were expensive and the cable length was far too much. The open construction of the card holder doesn't lend itself to easy mounting, especially when you compare it to the card adapter.

I guess that if this works, it will require a blow job on the M328 that is on the MegaSound card.

Any wiring changes?

No changes to the hardware. The idea is to use the serial interface, as used to load the firmware via the bootloader, to access the SD card.
I'm putting a ymodem receive protocol in. Initially, just use something like hyperterminal and send a file using ymodem. I did succeed in doing this to an ersky board, but never released it as USB mass storgage came along about the same time.

Hmm.. I can see some real fun here for some of us that run a flavour of Linux. Wondering if something like CuteCom could be used... Maybe it's best leave this topic for the future. Don't want the nightmares just yet.

My only question at present is to ask if the MegaSound module has all of the circuitry on board to deal with this.

Got my package in the mail, with my long awaited MegaSound 9x 3 pins were sticking out of the envelop on the front and some of the electrical parts were loose in the bag (capacitor and 2 broken pins. Good news the speaker was intact. Not even a very good paper weight now.
Back to the drawing board.
Not very good packing.

I'm sorry! The postal workers treated him very badly because people did not complain of it.
Replace the damaged parts do I submit new ones, just type in (private), what to send.

Hi,
I bought a MegaSound board a few months ago, but only installed on the weekend, and cant get it to work. I dont know if the problem is with the board or my 9x.

When I turn on the radio, there is 1 beep, and the display is blank. The back light does not turn on. I have checked all the wiring and appears to be correct. (see attached)

If I connect all wires except D0-D3, radio powers up ok. As soon as I connect any one of the D0-D3 wires, power up to blank display.

Dont know if problem is with the 9X or the Mega Sound.

I have a Turnigy 9x, with Smartie board & TelemetrEZ mods. But even removing them, same problem. From what I have read, the problem I have is related to no signal/control from PB7. But I dont know if there is a poblem with PB7 in the radio, or the Mega Sound not 'seeing' the PB7 signal.

Is there any checks I can do??

I'd guess at a power problem to the MegaSound board. If the processor on the MegaSound is not powered, it will ground the LCD data lines, hence no display.

ok, I get power at the input on board from the takeoff from near the power switch. Any other checks/measures I can do to isolate where the problem is??

Check you have 5V on the audio amp and 3.3V on the processor is the next step.

More good pictures showing your wiring. When I posted my MS board install pictures the group here saw I had left the BL wire off I thought wasn't needed. They saw it I soldered it on and it all started working! More good pictures of you wiring could make for a quick fix.

Have put the MegaSound in another 9X i have and same problem.

Turn on radio, 1 beep, then nothing. No display. No backlight. No sound.

I suspect the board is faulty
