Not getting RSSI on the 9x - DJT module, D4R-II, 9xtreme, naze32

Post by OpenRCForumsUser »

I am unable to get RSSI on my Tx. I have the Frsky DJT module installed and a D4R-II on my multirotor.
The D4R is jumpered and set up as PPM. The radio is in PPM mode. In cleanflight: I have set the UART1 telemetry to Frsky in the Ports tab, RX_PPM and RSSI_ADC and Telemetry enabled in the Configuration tab.
On the radio the display reads Rx=0 Tx=0 when the quad is powered and armed.
Everything is bound and functioning properly. The aircraft flies fine.

I must be missing something here and any help would be appreciated.

The DJT has no internal connection for telemetry data. It only (as supplied) has data on the Tx pin on the back.
Have you wired this anywhere or done an internal mod to the DJT?

That is something I have not done. I was under the impression the module was plug and play.
Check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2bJqkRjh2o. He snaps the module in, turns everything on and appears to have instant RSSI. (Mind the gross coke nail?)

Edit: While doing some more research I remembered something about the DJT in the installation instructions of the 9xtreme.
In the installation instructions it has this picture: http://smartieparts.com/images/9xtreme/ ... mplete.jpg and it says "F - 2-wire black and white FrSky module connector. The other end goes to the back of a FrSky DJT or XJT module. More details regarding FrSky module installation here [link to come]"

Do I just connect the wires from F to the Rx and Tx on the back of the DJT module?

Yes, black to Tx. The white to Rx is only needed to allow the Tx to set alarms on the module itself.

I connected F to the DJT and successfully received RSSI.

Mike - Thanks for the critical information that I missed.
Bob- Thanks for the other links. I did end up having to extend the wire by about 2 inches.

Thanks for the help.
