Lua Scripts on 9xtreme

Post by kaznad »

Hi guys,

I am wondering if it is possible to use Lua Scripts on the 9xtreme with ersky9x? I bought an anysense telemetry module and this module has lua scripts made for Taranis. https://github.com/cemizm/TaranisLuaScripts I am wondering if I can use it for the 9xtreme as well?

Also it has been some time since I got the 9xtreme, has there been any firmware updates? I have not updated since I got it?

Thanks a lot guys.

I personally have no idea what a Lua script is so I can't answer that.

Yes, there have been updates. You can return to the product page and check the "updating firmware" tab for details.

Thanks for the firmware info.

I am new to LUA scripts as well. Just heard of it when I got the anysense telemetry module. I think it is used in OpenTX. http://www.open-tx.org/lua-instructions.html

Is there any way to make the telemetry screen show more than 6 values in one screen? Thanks.

Using the large characters there isn't really any room on the display for more than 6 items.

Could you please rethink that decision? There are so many great and helpful tools, for example PID Tuning on Quadcopters or even changing channel and power of video transmitters. I think the screen is big enough, look at the radio setup tab how much there is written. It would be so awesome to see LUA Script support on 9Xtreme.

Please make the 9X great again :P

Hey Mike

I asked you in this Thread: viewtopic.php?t=8665
for Smartaudio Support to adjust Unify and Tramp VTX through the 9x. You asked for further details to implement. Actually, i think you dont have to implement Smartaudio itself, but just a functionality to port LUA Scripts from opentx. Smartaudio Support is implemented in Betaflight, Raceflight and KISS since the newer versions. All we need, is that we can use LUA Scripts zu trigger the FC to Speak with our VTX...

Any Chance to make it work?

And that can't be done without LUA scripts??

I am looking into adding LUA support. Initially I'm working on the Taranis (more RAM available), to get the LUA code integrated. I have all the LUA code compiling in. I now need to look at how it is scheduled from the main program, how it interfaces to the main program, and how you select a script to run.

This is, however, just one of the enhancements being requested.

I guess its the easiest way to implent it to ersky9x, programming wise...

I believe that to write scripts we need at least some basic programming knowledge? I don't think many of us can do it, so, not that easy.. :)

Please note that I'm not against it, it would be a good addition just like many other features.. If we don't want,or don't know how to, we don't have to use it :)

You can download common LUA scripts for OpenTX like the one to adjust tramp/unify or PIDs everywhere. So if we make OpenTX LUAs working on ersky9x, there is no need to have programming skills ;-)

OpenTX and Ersky9x are quite different. I doubt you would have to do only minor adjustments to the existing scripts ;) :)

I hope I'm wrong though..

The most likely differences are the display size, although now the QX7 has appeared, a script for that may well work OK.

I have some progress to report!
I've been porting the LUA code to ersky9x for the Taranis (same processor as the 9Xtreme). Today, I got a standalone script running, so I have the basics in place. I only have standalone scripts available, and a very limited number of interface functions implemented.
With this in place, I should be able to add a lot more fairly easily, and it should compile into the 9Xtreme, which I will sort next.

Mike.

Edit: Compiled for the 9Xtreme and the same standalone script worked!
