eepskye editor and the eepe editor

Post by ckleanth »

right, I've found some of my old models done in eepe. I have two software installed in the eepe editor folder the eepe and the eepskye. The eepskye editor wont load any opentx eppe or model files done in the eepe editor.

also if I have the eepskye editor and the eepe editor I cant drag and drop mix lines.

I suppose the eppe model file structure has changed between the three editors although the extension remained the same?
is there a converter tool to open my opentx or old eepe model files done in the eepe editor?

I don't know about OpenTX and CompanionTX.

With eePe and eePskye it isn't possible to drag and drop mix lines
but it should be possible to copy whole models from eePe to eePskye.

I tried this a few minutes ago, but eePe crashed while dragging.
as a workaround use copy and paste in the 'file' menu.
You will get a message after 'paste' to check your model,
'cause not ev'rything is copied.

yea copy and paste works thanks.

Mike would it be possible to have a model converter (or eepkeye to be able to open and convert opentx model files) ?

thanks

It did crash once with me..

Just copied a simple model.. There are some settings that didn't copy well.. I'm sure there are more but here are the ones I found.

Voice alarms.. None was copied.
Mixer:
CH04 +100% Ail Diff (-70)
CH05 +100% Ail Diff (70)

was copied as:

CH04 +100% Ail Expo (58)
CH05 +100% Ail Curve ()

Timers were not copied..

EDIT: Just one more thing, I'm sure you know this but openTX and er9x/ersky9x files ARE NOT compatible. Even if they use the same file extension, which I think openTX should change. This only creates confusion because when downloading files, people don't know which ones are for openTX and which ones are for ersky9x/er9x..

As I understand it this is difficult. The EEPROM structure for openTx seems to change relatively frequently. This means any conversion routine would need to find out what structure the openTx model actually is. I may be wrong, but I think Companion keeps updating all the models on the radio when you update the openTx firmware when the EEPROM structure has changed.

I'm noting there are things not converting from er9x/eepe to ersky9x/eepskye. I just need enough time to add everything in!

Mike would be possible to have a chat with bernard andre and the other guys and agree on a eepe/eepskye and opentx structure or some method to distinguish between the three ?

I can try!
Companion was derived from eepe, and just used (uses) a lot of the same code for saving and loading EEPROM files. In particular, a .bin file contains no information on where it originated.
I'll look at eepe/eepskye, they might be able to do something. An .eepe file save from Companion looks to be save in HEX format, as was used by eepe/eepskye, but eepe/eepskye save using XML currently, and have done so for some time.
So they may be able to at least put up a warning the file may be incompatible.

The best would be openTX devs changing companion file extension.. It doesn't make sense that Companion's file extension is called .eepe when there is another program (the original) called eepe.
Is it that difficult to change the file extension?? and still be able to convert from the old one, at least for a while?

João

Mike, maybe you could change eepskye/eepe's file extension to something like .compa?
If it is to make something confusing, then why not make it in double?? ;)
It's ridiculous.. :(

I've added these in, but not tested them yet.

Thanks Mike.
The only thing that I think would be very difficult to convert are the switches when the radios have different hardware. :?
Or logical switches that are not present in er9x. But we always have to check the models anyway. Even if copied from another ersky9x radio..
