I think the 9XR is not able to do two transmitter module at the same time.
It depends if he is talking about the 9XR or the 9XR-PRO :) The PRO can do it, Not without some modding though.

Ok, on your picture, what is the green board below the XJT that you have the Telemetry (COM1) white and black wires connected to?

Also, what is the small board mounted vertically just below the 9xtreme board?

Ok, I don't like the fact that the module stopped responding :(
Did you check that the protocol for the internal module is correct?
Here is the link for the other thread where a similar problem is being discussed.

Do you mean XJT module and not the DJT module ?
They are two different modules and have different Telemetry wiring connections.
XJT SPort telemetry.jpg
XJT S.Port Telemetry black wire connection.
Maybe you may want to try this XJT Module (back) in the external module bay to see
if it will work properly before you recheck all your internal module wiring connections.
Here is another place for more info about connections with the XJT Module: (viewtopic.php?f=126&t=7771).
What Receiver (RX) are you using (X8R) ? :?:

Great job guys!
Looking into converting my XJT for internal usage as well, I have a side-question which I couldn't answer myself by digging through the code.
How LUA/BASIC functions like `sportTelemetryPush` work? From what I see, XJT pin 5 is just a Tx, not half-duplex bidirectional for both Rx&Tx, and the code never configures `USART->CR3` register for half-duplex.
How are the values delivered from the Radio to the module, via the PPM/PXX/XJT pin?
As an additional question, do I need a one-way inverter for SPORT if I'm going to connect it to COM2 port on the 9Xtreme, or a two-way inverter like used for SPORT connection to F4 FCs?
P.S. Seems like SmartPort data is sent over the PXX/XJT line, now it makes sense :-)

The SPort signal is half-duplex, but the COM port is multiplexed outside of the processor using a 3-state buffer. The data polarity is inverted.

To use COM2 for SPort data you will need an inverter. There is no firmware support for sending SPort data out using COM2.
The 9Xtreme includes power switching for internal and external modules, so you will likely be able to use COM1 for both modules.

Hi Mike,
When connecting Com1 telemetry to both internal and external XJT modules at the same time,
Hertz would have to (should) have only one of the modules turned on at a time ? :?:

If both internal and the external XJT modules were on at the same time,
would this cause a problem reading the telemetry on the 9Xtreme ? :?:

XJT module Telemetry:
The radio decides whether the telemetry baudrate is 57600 or 9600 depending on the protocol, 57600 for PXX and 9600 for PPM.

When XJT module sends telemetry S.Port, 57600 baud using X-series receivers, connect the TX wire (Black) to Pin 5 or the
external S.Port Pin and radio setting are then set to Protocol: PXX and Sub-Protocol: D16 with both dip switches OFF (down).

When using telemetry baudrate 57600 for D-series receivers, connect the TX wire (Black) to 5 Pin or the external S.Port Pin
and the radio setting are set to Protocol: PXX (XJT name change) and Sub-Protocol: D8 with both dip switches OFF (down).

To have the TSSI signal reporting using D-series receivers: connect the telemetry TX wire (Black) to the external Txd Pin
and the telemetry RX wire (White) to the external Rxd Pin,
then set radio setting Protocol to PPM (baudrate 9600) and Sub-Protocol: D8
with the XJT module's dip switch 1: ON (up) and dip switch 2: OFF (down).
These dip switch settings changes the XJT module into a DJT module.

I posted a new test version a bit earlier. Mainly it is to do with trying to fix a bluetooth problem,
but it does include a possible fix for your problem.
At the top of the telemetry menu is an option "UsrProto".
You should find an extra option at the end now of "FrHub".
If you select this, it is supposed to force the telemetry to process hub data at 9600 baud on your chosen "FrSky COM Port".
Mike.
I only needed telemetry from the external module and have my telemetry wires
through the back case, so that I can change the telemetry connection manually
to the external module.
The internal XJT module is set to PXX protocol with no telemetry wires to it.

Either only one module on at a time, or, if using a XJT module in the external bay, disable telemetry operation on that module by setting both dip switches up and re-binding to a receiver.

The hardware was not designed to support TWO SPort connections. The FrSky transmitters have their internal XJT connected to the same SPort signal as any external module.

What configuration are you considering? If you connect the internal XJT SPort signal to COM1 (SPort connection), then all should work OK if you have any external module set to OFF (so not powered).

I plan on using XJT as an internal module with telemetry wired to either COM1 or COM2, and external module for Multiprotocol/EzUHF/Crossfire, but not at the same time. Hence I want telemetry from both internal and external, but only mutually exclusive.

Hertz, you could purchase a Taranis-Plus and flash it with erSky9x and it can do SPort with com2.

Also another option with the 9Xtreme, you could just swap external modules,
or Mike suggestion, use com1 for both and turning off the module that is not being used.

Thanks, I don't need another radio, my Turnigy 9x is heavily modded already.
I just wanted to know how to wire it up properly, like Taranis does for instance, and if it connects both internal and external modules to the same UART I don't mind doing it that way.
As I said, I have no intention of powering both modules at once.

Yes, just connect both modules to the same signal (com1).
As an alternative, connect an internal XJT to COM1, and connect the external module to COM2 if it is only ever to be used for single direction data.
