Currently the resistors are 130K, and the gain is 300K/130K ~= 2.3. Reducing the resistors to 100K would increase the gain to 3.

Hi João,
I really like your 9-Haptic picture of the 9Xtreme Expansion Grid pads.
I did make some small changes in the copy above (9Xtreme Ex Grid pads_c). :)

Hi João,
I like it ! :)
I also did another little change on the (9Xtreme Ex Grid pads_b) picture I posted too.
Where in the last part, I change the text color to black and changed the wording.
Changing the text color is help me recognize the change to referring about the 9Xtreme board Com 1 telemetry connection.

Not necessary as I changed the text on the expansion grid picture, have a look.. But you can of course leave it here.. I don't really know the number of pictures the forum allows me, and I forgot to reserve the second post, so I have to be careful ;)
Still one more mod to document. Hopefully in a couple days I can close my radio :)

I think I have it correct as thinking TX/RX are the module Txd and Rxd pins as to help keep confusion down :?:
I know that technically the connections swapped (RX to Txd and TX to Rxd).

That depends on the reader's point of view. If you just specify one side, you might mean 9XT, and the others might mean the module.. I believe it is better to mention both like "White wire TX here, connects to violet wire, RX there". This gives more information to the people that never messed with this, and defines exactly what it what.. :) And that was what I've just did on picture 9-Haptic.
Just my 2 cents..

Thanks João for your step by step installation.
A week ago I recieved my 9xtreme board and I am just waiting the Taranis side sliders to begin my installation. The only thing I have not understood so far is how or where to connect a 3-way switch into the EXT pins of the 9x board. The 2-way to 3-way switch conversion and the side slider instalation are clear to me. Can you tell me in which Ext pins I have to connect a new 3-way switc?
Thanks in advance,

Welcome to the forum ;)

I don't think an extra 3 position switch is supported at this time.. A workaround is to replace one of the pots with a switch..
I don't know how many taranis slider you want to install. if only one, you can use one of the extra pots, P4 for example, and the other P5 for the 3 pos switch. You would need to install 2 resistors. one from ground to the signal wire/pin, and another from 3.3V to the same signal wire/pin. That means, signal connects to the middle pin of the switch, 3.3V connects to one outer pin of the switch, and GND to the other outer pin. The two resistors (2.7K) connect from both outer pins to the middle pin..
Then you need to detect all 3 positions using logical switches.

But hold that mod for a while as I think I have read Mike is thinking about allowing extra 3 positions switches in the firmware.. I might be wrong though.. I'n sure he will see your post and also reply ;)

Extra 3-position switches, as opposed to converting existing 2-position switches, are not supported at this time.

I've made a note to consider adding the feature.
Before I start on any new additions, I want to get a new revision properly released.

Thank you guys!!
Without any doubt it's worth it to wait for a while. My intension at the moment is to install one side slider and to convert Aileron DR switch into a 3-way. I was with the stock firmware of Flysky TH9X so now I am trying to understand the philosophy of the new firmware starting with Er9x Manual 2015 edition.

That is a good idea.. The manual, even if for er9x (the 9xtreme uses ersky9x), is a great tool as the menus and most of the options are shared between both. ersky9x obviously has a few more features. A new ersky9x manual is being written at the moment as far as I know..

The philosophy hasn't really changed. It's mainly the menu structure that's different (and new features). As João says, the "new" Er9x manual (it will soon be a year old) is a very good guide precisely because it reflects the new menu structure and because most features are very similar between Er9x and ErSky9x.

I recall making the transition from the stock version (R204) issued in 2014 to a version of ErSky9x based on the new menu system. That was before I got involved with the Er9x manual project, so I came at the transition pretty much cold. It turned out to be easy, even without a guide, for someone who understood the previous version reasonably well to figure out where things were now located.

The new ErSky9x manual uses much of the material from the Er9x manual. It covers all five of the platforms on which ErSky9x now runs, explaining differences in implementation that stem from differences in the hardware. I'm doing the assembly on this guide but relying on João (jhsa), and of course Mike, for the real expertise.

Some of 9X radio wires Colors do NOT mean what they are.
I have found that we need to use our multimeter to check what each stock 9x Gimbals wires are before connecting them together.
It saves time and frustration in the long run. :D ;)

Hi
I have done this mod and would like to know if there any negative repercussions to the radio. Is there any danger of short circuit?
photo_1453925614671.jpg
what i did was to fork the tx wire and solder one part to the place where the old antenna was, so i can use xjt module without pluging tx wire to smart port pin.

Hi OctavioS,
This is what I want to do when using an external XJT module as a DJT module using the PPM protocol (D8: 9600 baudrate / TSSI) and having the telemetry Black wire connecting to the XJT external Txd pin and the White wire connecting to the external Rxd pin.

And then for a different model to be able use PXX protocol (D8: 9600 baudrate / SWR)

And then when using this same external XJT module as an XJT module using PXX protocol (D16: 57600 baudrate / SWR) for S.Port telemetry Black wire directly to pin 5 (bottom pin) of the XJT module connector and or Black wire connecting to the external module S.Port pin.

Mike B. said there needs to be some more testing done to determine when changing between the different protocol, that there is no damage caused.
I did some partial testing and it seem to work OK, but I did not try everything and I do not know if it could cause a problem or not.

I did not try it with the X8R receiver with S.Port sensors and I did not connect to both Txd and S.Port pins together at the same time.
Though it did seem to work with what I tried, but that why I am asking about it, I am not clear to how and what it works.

jhsa,
If Aloft ever gets the T-gimbals back in stock, I wouldn't have to remove my 9Xboard to install them would I? I saw you mentioned "Amplified Gimbals", are they worth the extra bucks, (I'm guessing they cost more) more precise when centering? Something new for me.
I just realized the Taranis Slider is like a knob with a thumb tab for adjustment? I kept picturing a slider like on a graphic eq and thinking that would feel awkward but that looks like it would be a natural movement on the side of the case.

thanks

The amplified gimbals are not sold anymore I believe.. And if you see them, do not buy them :)
You want the non amplified gimbals. That is what Aloft sell. At least that's what I got from them last time I ordered..

If you can find a suitable small linear slider pot, and you can fit it wherever you want it, why not? Just make sure it is about 5K. 10K should also work.. That was what I wanted to do originally. Actually I don't like the new taranis sliders. The detent in the middle is too strong. I prefer the old ones that I have installed on one of my radios..

João,
I just noticed readymade rc has the pr10's in stock and the sliders for the T and the T-Plus but not the X9E sliders. RMRC says pre 2014 radios had the ratcheting type and the new ones are smooth with a detent. If they hang on the detent, I would rather have the older ones also. I suppose the X95 sliders are the same? These are @ Aloft
