Welcome!

Post by s_mack »

I may as well kick it off with a Welcome to the 9Xtreme forum!

That's all, just welcome :) In time, I'll probably post helpful information here, so this can be a bit of a placeholder.

Try the file called " Voice Pack 9XR-Pro 16Khz.zip"

I will make a welcome voice for the 9Xtreme board soon ;)

Hi João,
It would be good for the newbe's to have all the 9Xtreme SD folders/files needed for there new blank SD Card.
I know your time is much full, but could you create a ZIP file for the 9xtreme SD card ?
Here is what I have so far:
Test 9Xtreme SD Card files.zip
(19.72 MiB) Downloaded 291 times
It needs the Welcome to 9Xtreme voice files and needs to have folder and files add/subtracted so that it would
be proper for the 9xtreme Boards. :)

The other packs are the right for the 9Xtreme board, except for the welcome message..
All use Ersky9x.. I will tidy up all the voice packs soon. And the welcome message will be the same for all the packs.. And it will be the normal "Welcome to Ersky9x". I might include the welcome files for the different boards inside an extra folder.
Some packs can't really be updated anymore because the free site I've used to make the files replaced the voice I used with some other.. So, these will probably be removed instead of using precious space on the forum.

I've added a "place holder" for voice files on the website. I'll get them up there eventually!

Mike, after the files are there for ersky9x and er9x, eepe and eepskye could download them. What do you think?

Thank you everyone. I've downloaded the file Voice Pack 9XR-Pro 16Khz.zip.

So do I just dump the zip file in the root folder of the SD card? Or should I unzip it to the root folder of the SD card. Thank you.

I can't believe how many people have received theirs with standard post... and I still haven't received mine with so-called "upgraded" UPS express!

I paid 10x the postage... and I'm still waiting.

Kinda frustrated.

just received my 9xtreme and i must say well done on the quality of the kit i like it alot. so without instructions and not much knowledge ( i have previously only soldered up a small cable to let me flash er9x through usbasp ) i decided to put it all together and it is very straight forward i must say and everything is a great fit.

i have a few small questions which may seem simple to some people but im sure you understand
1 how do i get sound to work? i have read that i have to download a sound pack but where do i install it and how?

2 i have installed a SD card to my 9xtreme board but what is it for ? the firmware was pre installed on the 9xtreme or is there a choice to install later firmware to SD

other than that once again iv improved my radio which i love and im really grateful for the hard work done by others to make this possible

1. See: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=7715#p102758.

2. The SD card stores the voice files, and may also be used to log telemetry data.
Newer firmware may either be flashed directly to the processor, or placed on the SD card and flashed from there.

1) You need to download a voice pack, I used this one, Voice Pack 9XR-Pro 16Khz.zip. Unzip it to the root folder of the SDcard, so in the SD card there will be folder called Voice and inside there are the sound files. That's it for normal functions, like when you turn on Radio there will be welcome message and faults like switch error there will be voice prompt. But to setup other voice function like voice on switched on a switch you must configure in the Voice menu in the Radio, it's fairly easy.

2) AFAIK the SD card only stores voice files and Data log files etc, I dun think it is used to store the firmware. To access the SD card while it's plugged in, hold both horizontal trim buttons towards the center and turn on radio, it will boot to bootloader mode, now when you plug in the USB the PC will recognize 2 drives, one is the SD card the other is the 9xtreme board itself. Just dump the files to the SD card for voice functions. Also this is the same way to setup the Radio via eePskye

I am not an expert or anything but hope you find this useful.

This pack is no longer supported and has been removed as the voice used to make it is no longer available. Please use the link Mike provided above to download the voice pack.

Wow, you can flash firmware from SD card, that's a neat feature. Guess it will be useful for developers who need to switch firmwares on the fly.

Hey Mike, when in bootloader mode to connect to eePskype the 9X screen shows "connecting..." constantly is this normal? Seems to be working fine though.

Ah cool. So if I already used the old pack to set up voice functions, will it still work? Or I need to redo it? Thanks for alerting me on the new pack though. :D

Yes but you need to have the vario/altimeter, and a frsky telemetry receiver of course, as well as to configure the radio..

I'm not sure as I still don't have mine :(

Have the high precision vario and using d8r2 plus Rx. I already have the vario working on pre 9xtreme 9x with er9x 815 but just no audio which I now have the capability with the extreme. Hope you get yours soon Joao, will need yours and Mikes help with this. I'm not sure but is there an ersky9x manual yet, even in an earlier version? I find the whole programming thing a minefield I'm afraid.

Have a look at this manual. It is for er9x but the basics are the same. Just some less options. It will help you to understand how the radio works.

I've tried to make configuring voice output easy. Set up a "Voice Alarm", found in the voice option of the model setup menu.
Set the "Source" to "Alt".
Set the "Rate" to the number of seconds between announcements.
Set "Play Source" to "Before".
If you want to be able to enable/disable this voice output using a switch, just set the "Switch" entry to the switch you wish to use.
