You probably need to install a new voice pack.
I am not at the computer at the moment. Maybe someone could post a link to it please? If not, I will do it as soon as I can.

Here, get the voice pack from here and extract it to your radio's SD Card. But first backup the one you have there as you might want to keep some of your old files.

The Tx radio battery warning is always enabled. What do you have in the RADIO SETUP|ALARMS menu for the battery warning voltage?
Also what do yu have for the "Capacity Alarm"?

Hi MikeB,
I don't understand "Capacity Alarm" but it defult "50" after firmware R220 upgraded.
Now I set "Capacity Alarm" at 0 ,the warning voice was gone.
How to use "Capacity Alarm" ?

The 'PRO has a circuit to measure the capacity used of the Tx battery. If you press UP LONG, you get to the BATTERY display, where it shows the current being used, and the total used. Pressing MENU LONG will set the amount used to 0.
The Capacity alarm may be set to warn you when the capacity used has reached a limit.

When you charge the radio's battery, you need to reset the capacity alarm. Then, if you want to use it, you set the alarm with the value of the spent capacity you want the radio to warn you. If you don't want to use it, leave it at zero

Re: How to enable voice function after firmware R220 upgraded

Hi,

I have problems with voice function too.

Since there was winter outside, I did not test the 9xr pro after each firmware upgrade, but today I found out that voice does not work.
Welcome voice message at splash screen works, but any other voice does not. Haptic works, but no voice is heard. I tried to change file type from name to audio, but even audio voices do not work.
Tried with another model, created new voice commands in another model, but nothing works.
At first I had fw r221a2, upgraded to r221b4 (which btw hangs my radio) and even rolled back to r220.

Another thing: when I switch on the radio, sometimes no keypress works and have to switch it off and on again. Also on r220, r221a2.

Any ideas?

Try the voice pack that you can download here:

http://openrcforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=7715

Another option if you are using windows is to download and install the utility linked at the top of the first post linked above, and generate your own voices.

Hi,

actually I have updated the voice files few months ago. They are from 2015 as is seen by file time stamps.
inside voice directory on sd card I have original voice files (numbers) and three directories user, system and models.
Is this correct?

What i am concerned about is that even selecting file type audio (which is some audio voices from the firmware) no voice is heard.

Audio files are only for the so called "Beeps"
For voice select names..
It will search for voice files inside a folder called "user"

But you said you have the welcome message, correct?

Yep, that is what i am saying.
Beeps do not work, when set for voice alert.
And welcome message plays fine.

I am not sure if this is fw issue, but all was working ok in november 2016 during last flight session.

MikeB, where can I find r218 or 219 fw?

I've posted a copy of R219 for the 9XR-PRO on the test version post, at the bottom.

Do you hear any beeps when you press buttons or trim switches?

Radio setup /AudioHaptic menu. Go down to "Beeper". Make sure it is set to something else other than " Quiet"..

For the voice, if the welcome message plays but you cannot select other voice files, then you might have something wrong with your voice folders structure in the SD Card. Please try the pack on the link I provided above. If you did already and still does not work, please post a screenshot of the folder structure inside your voice folder in the SD Card.

Mystery solved.

Radio battery is puffed. One cell dead. That is why there were hangs of the radio and problems with voice.

Tried with another battery and works ok. Voice works as before.

Strange enough radio was showing 11.6V. 2 cells were at 3.8V and one at 0V.

Luckily i did not fly the plane. It would crash. Perhaps.

Hi,

got the new battery, but there is still problem with one of the files:
no matter which firmware I put on 9xr pro it crashes whenever file RX_LOST.wav is played. And just this file. There are some other voice files, which do not play at all, but they don't crash the 9xr pro. RX_VOLT for example works normally if I put it for RSSI warning. So i guess it is problem with RX_LOST.wav file itself.

The story goes like this: i have RX_LOST voice alert when RSSI drops to 0. It starts playing this voice for about half a second, then the whole 9xr pro hangs, no keypresses are possible any more and no voice is heard anymore. Haptic starts to vibrate in 1 second intervals. I have to switch the 9xr pro off and on again to regain control of the 9xr pro.

And yes, I have put new voice file pack onto the sd card.
I still have old voice files with numbers in the voice directory. Is that a problem?

Me again,

I have removed old numbered voice files from voice folder on sd card.
Now everything works OK. Even RX_LOST.

Funny: everything worked OK with r218 in the autmn.

MikeB: regarding puffed battery with one dead cell inside 9xr pro: RX voltage was shown 11.6v eventhough it was infact only 7.4V. If i didn't open the battery tray I would not see there is anything wrong with the battery pack.

Did you calibrate the battery voltage before? was it correct? Please check with a multimeter and a charged pack, then calibrate it, then check with a discharged pack..

Now I'm totally confused.
I have installed your latest voice zip onto my 9XRpro so now I have no numbered files so I cannot configure safety switches for channels or voice switches as there is no option to specify named files; only numbers.
Do I have to create copies of the named files with number names?
If so, why aren't they in the released package?

I also tried to convert my previous number file specs for voice alarms to names but to no avail.
For example, I previously had my throttle cut alarm set to file 160 (and it worked).
Now I have it set to ThrCut1 and it does not work.

My firmware version is V1766-Mike 4/12/2016 r220 REVB.

Hmm, I have a 2 cell li-on (same voltage as LiPo) in my PRO and the battery reads correctly.

Go to model setup / VoiceHaptic menu. You can configure all your voice, sounds and haptic there.. This is the right place to setup your voice now. You don't even need logical switches anymore. Everything you need is there.. All in one place.. :)

This thread has become a little twisted but I assume that your reply re using the voicehaptic menu was directed to me.
I have done this and it does work.
However, I have some 40 models that now need converting from the old number and switch system to voice alarms and names.
Is there any way I can do this with an editor or even eepskye rather than having to use the Tx menus?

Do it in eepskye. Download the eeprom from the radio, save it to your PC just in case you mess something up. Then open it in eepskye, program the audio (for every model,) and then send the eeprom again to the radio. If you are asking if there is a tool to convert the voice programming automagically, the answer is NO. :)
Sometimes, having to program some settings again is the small price to pay for a much better system. :)

The theory is that the old system should still work, as long as the original, numbered files are still present on the SD card.

Before starting to edit the 40 models to the new format, I decided to try this approach.
Leaving the original switch and voice definitions, I copied the old number files to the new user directory but that didn't work so I tried to the top level voice directory but that didn't work either.
Where are you looking for them?

Copy the numbered files to the main "Voice Directory".

But try the voice menu. it is much easier to work with.. If you do about a model a day, very soon you have re-programmed the voice on all of your 40 models

Hi,

the saga of voice file crashing 9xr pro continued today.

After 2 weeks or so I turned 9xr pro again. It started welcome message, but stopped in the middle. And crash of 9xr pro again.
Reinstalled voice files to sd card and worked again.
I start thinking that stock sd card is failing.

Bought new 8gb toshiba microSD and transferred all files from stock SD card.

We will see if that solves the problem. I hope it does, otherwise there might be hardware problem with 9xr pro occuring slowly.
