Disabled menu (hardware, etc)

Post by DeVere »

Suggestion, if something is disabled for whatever reason, instead of displaying "disabled" please tell the user how to enable or why it is disabled. E.g. "Hold down xyz and turn off and on 3.5 times"

Thx

Or try the "Help" ;)
MENU LONG, then select "Help" from the popup!

When you press and hold the menu button from the main screen, a popup comes up. The last option on the list is called "Help".
It explains how to enable the hardware menu.
If you are going to tell how to do it where it says it is disabled, it is not worth it to protect it at all :)

I'm not sure why this particular menu item was changed, there seem to be many other places where a user could cause problems.

What I was suggesting is that "disabled" is a bit terse.
"Disabled for your protection"
"Disabled for safety, click help"
"Disabled, do xyz to enable"

I'm a totally new user, so I thought I would start with this.
You guys have been using this for two or three weeks already, so you're way past this. ;)

So I just got this 9xr pro for $50... seems like a fair price. Though I did fork out $80 for two, 3-axis gimbals.. glad i did.
It's definitely an upgrade from the JR xp783 I've been using for 15 years.

Spent the first several days trying to figure out what firmware is on there and as you know every link points to old information.
Long story short, I think I want this version..

One thing you might update is the readme file.. which is linked to from at least one place in the windows app.. either update it or delete it.. as it is currently, it just adds to the confusion. Which, I don't think is your intention.

Hopefully I can contribute in some way. And I will try to keep it positive!
That's my intro for now.. back to my disassembled 9xr pro.

I think you would have to update to the latest test version to have the "Help" menu. I believe Mike might do a release soon as far as I understood, so you either wait for it or install the test version.

You provide the model notes yourself. For a model, create an ordinary text file, up to 16 lines with up to 21 characters on each line.
Give the text file the same name as your model, with a .txt extension, then put this on the SDc ard on a sub-directory called "TEXT".

So, suppose you have a model called "Easystar", you need a file /TEXT/Easystar.txt. This text is then displayed when you select "Notes" and the current model is Easystar.
