cannot bind FrSky X8R receivers

Post by litse23 »

I have problem to bind FrSky 98XR receiver(s) to my 9XR pro transmitter with XJT module.
I wonder what I am doing wrong or have to to make the bindingprocess succesful.

the protocolsettings I made in my Transmitter are the`following;
PPM start Channel 1
PPM 2 Channels 4
Proto Multi RxNum ( Don't know whwt this means)
Protocol FrSky
Type none
Autobind Y

The flight controller is a KK 2.1 board.

All settings I made further are CPPM, also on the flight controller board.

I followed the binding procedures as written in the manual.

I tried two X8R receivers seperately.
After my binding effods the led on one `receiver were red and green (not flashing).
On the other receiver green (not flashing).

You need proto PXX (renamed to XJT in the latest releases), not MULTI. MULTI is for the DIY 4-in-1 module.

Thanks for the advise but it makkes no difference.
Strange to me is that the colour of the leds en the receivers are preponderant solid green.
Further I see a very small solid red.

A check on how you are binding.
Turn the receiver on while holding the F/S button pressed.
Turn the Tx on, go to the "Protocol" menu and select bind. Make sure both switches on the XJT module are down.
Also make sure the "Type" is set to D16.

Also, where and when did you purchase the XJT and X8Rs? They may have incompatible firmware if you have a mix of "international" and "Europe (LBT)".

Thanks for you explanation of the binding. This is an other method then I was used to apply(use of F/S button on transmitter).
Unfortunately my binding efforts were not succesful.

I bought my X8R receiver from AliExpress as a combo pac totgether with the FrSky XJT module.
I know from the different fimware versions. I ordered 2016 LBT firmware on both.

Do you know anyone who also has a XJT and X8R you could try your XJT and X8R with?

That will be very difficult.
I recently start looking in my surroundings for people/ groups who are interested in the subject.
Of course I can order a new receiver but I wonder if the problem will be solved then

I wonder if I something had to change in the wiring of my 9XRPro transmitter before placing the XJT mudule from FrSky?
(red something abou this in the manual of 2015, page 4)

No, the 'PRO is fully compatible with the XJT.
What revision firmware do you have on the 'PRO?

It may be worth flashing the XJT and X8Rs with known firmware to make sure they are compatible.

I'd recommend updating the 'PRO firmware to the latest release (found here: http://www.er9x.com/).
Do you have eepskye installed on your PC?

You can update the firmware on the XJT and/or the X8R from the 'PRO. Go here: viewtopic.php?f=45&t=6847, and read "SportFlash.pdf", to see how. Having read that, if you are happy to go ahead, we'll help you get the firmware files you need.

Yesterday I updated the fw of my Pro with the latest firmware. No problem with that.
The procedure of flashing Sport devices is not quite clear to me . Especially how to connect the X8R receiver??
I ordered a STK Sport toolkit(FrSky), perhaps more simple to connect ??
Please inform me what firmware I further need.

Use the first diagram from SportFlash.pdf, the one with ground and sport signals from the module bay and a separate, switched power supply.

I think you will need this download: http://www.frsky-rc.com/download/view.p ... 20Products to go with the STK.

Thanks for so far for all the useful info you gave me.
Now I have to wait a few weeks for my STK toolkit.
In the meantime I go at work with the eePsky program.
